There seems to be alot of controversy over the srt-4.
Some would like a club, some would like to bash..
IMO I think srt kids should have a club. Their cars are hot shit and deserve to be recognized. Also, please stop refering to the SRT-4 as a neon. It may have an ugly neon body and plastic interior but everything else (everything that really matters, engine.. exhaust) is very respectful.
I welcome those srt boys and hopefully we'll see some nice matches this summer at the track!
My preference is still import... I like the complete deal; looks, handling, performance, value. But everyone to their own

ITR isnt your typical teg, and a Z06 isnt your typical corvette.. an SRT-4 isnt your typical neon..
why break it down further? still nice, still fast.. Would i own one? Sure! Would I own any of the others? damn right :)

| Id say its hard to argue with the srt-4's specs. Yes I dont like the look of the car ( IMO, it still has the peon look to it ) but its definatly a "do not fuck with" car. For the price, you cant get a better deal. |

The SRT-4 is carrying on the important Mopar tradition of going like snot and looking ugly doing it:p
I personally like the looks of the SRT-4, and no one can debate it's performance, but lets look at historical examples: the Scat Pack cars (Super Bee, Road Runner et al.) went like a burning bat out of Hell, but they would never win any beauty contests compared to, say, the Corvettes of the time.
It's got it where it counts, and that's that.

| No where on the SRT-4 did I read "Neon". On the Dodge Canada website it is listed under the SX 2.0. If everyone stops calling them Neons we might be able to forget they ever exsisted. |

| I have an SRT-4 and I consider it a Neon. Most people do. Its just everyone else who seems to be in denial. |

Well a Ford Focus is still a Ford Focus but in Canada (that's where we live) there are no more NEONS they are SX 2.0. So if you keep calling them neons then the terrorists already won. |

^actually, there IS an SVT owners club here in edmonton and calgary. Looks like it's not just ANY focus/mustang/contour,...
SRT!!!!!! I'll be the first to say that it still is a neon, but to say it's a piece of shit like a neon, well, that's a load of hooey. I've owned both gen neons, and my srt-4. after the first neon fiasco, which was riddled with problems, the second gen was near flawless. Only recall on them was a brake line replacement. Other than that,... they're not a bad car. Sure, they're not great, but the SRT-4 IS!!!!! |

Ok here it is, bottom line. Chrysler no longer names the line "Neon", it is a completely new car from the previous generation Neon, therefore it is no longer a Neon. They are now the SX 2.0 and the SRT-4, deal with the quality issues in another way.

Definately a good move on Chrysler's part. But really who gives a shit what it's called, they could have called it The Chrysler Shitbox if they wanted to, but that doesn't change the fact that its a pretty fast, well handling car. |

Actually, this is only true in Canada. The SX 2.0 is still called a Neon in the US (check http://www.dodge.com if you want).
Also, the SX 2.0 is 99% the same car as a second gen Neon. The main difference is bumpers, besides that almost everything is identical.
An interesting point of note, before the SRT-4 came out some people had pre-release copies of the user's manuals. On the front of them it read "Dodge Neon SRT-4" |

That is the main reason I refuse to call it a Neon, distiguish us a bit at least! |

They should have called it Argon. We'll see how it does up against Chevy's new Cobalt (what with Cobalt's higher atomic number and all)
