the ion redline does have a good engine, but if i had to get a saturn, it'd be the vue redline, 250 hp, plus its a honda engine, so probably more reliable than a GM engine
no diss to gm fans:bowdown: love the vette myself |

wow...must be running some low low boost
2.0, supercharged...I would've thought they would make more than 205
but  to Saturn for putting out a car targeted more for enthusiasts :D |

| I'd think an M62 on a 2.0 L engine could make a lot of power if the internals can handle it and the intercooler is fairly efficient. Header back exhaust and up the boost, 250 whp? |

What do you all think of the new Saturn ION redline?

For $27K, it seems a bit pricey to me. Although the 205HP engine sounds nice :)
$27K is to much for that car. The car isn't very fast at all either. SCC dyno'd it for 197WHP and 169LB FT Torque. The car weighs 2960lbs though, and the gearing is poor, to tall. It did 0-60 in 7.1 and the quater mile in 15.3. |

That's pretty fast if you ask me. Throw a smaller SC pulley on for some more boost and you'll be able to achieve much higher numbers than that. |

Nice car, fair potential, but not for me, thanks.

| Thats the same engine they are putting in the new Chevy Cobalt SS, the cavaliers replacement. |

| The Saturn is alright, but pricey. I like the mustang though. |

| What I cant stand is the friggin gear ratio's.. There is no excuse for having such high specs and have such a terrible quarter and 0-60 time. No way in hell my car should be able to compete with it. I love the aspect of it, but im still waiting for the cobalt SS personally, I guess they redid the ratios in the SS and making it significantly faster than the red line. As for the engine, you cant really diss the ecotec for power levels. Stock, yes they suck ass, but can be highly modified and run great with boost. |

The sad part is that's the best part about the car, except maybe the seats. Those numbers are pretty respectable for the class, but not very good for a 200whp car that weighs less than 3000 pounds. The handling is weak and SCC didn't like the layout of the controls etc. either. Maybe the Cobalt SS will be better gearing-wise, but i'll bet the handling will still suck. GM just doesn't get it when it comes to small cars.:thumbsdow. Hmm. which would you prefer for the same price, the SRT-4 or the Ion Redline? Pretty simple answer in my mind. |
