| i THINK my radiator is leaking, though from where, i'm not sure. i'm not sure if it's just the cap not on tight or what not. is there a way i can tell without paying ludicrous amounts of money to a dealership to check for me? how much is it to replace a radiator, for a 95 integra *shudder*, or should i just buy some leak stuff and try to see if that'll do anything? |

Don't take it to a dealership then. Take it to a smaller shop, phone around. The noises you hear don't always mean a CV joint is fucked. If you can, look to see if a boot (there's 2 just in case you didn't know) is ripped. Look around the area cause if the boot was ripped, it would throw grease all over the place. If your not one of those "I don't want to break a nail", people, reach down and feel the boot to make sure there is no rip that you didn't see. Do that for both boots on both axles. Just do that before you go into your pocket to pay for something you don't need. As for the radiator, again, make sure it's the rad. What area do you notice the coolant from? The middle, off to the side? For example, if you see a coolant puddle on the ground, some people automatically think it's the radiator, but if it's off to the side, it could be a water pump. I'm not saying that's what it is, I'm just saying find where the coolant is collecting (on the floor or on a cross member) then back track from there. Is it dripping? If it is, look above the puddle and see where it's dripping from. Then follow a path from there and if your lucky, you might find an origin. Look for wet coolant (green) or traces of where coolant was (white). |

| A rad takes 1 hour at most to do yourself, so do it yourself. And buy a CT one - it's probably a lot less than 330.... |
|
|
| 98 teg |
| yah I should have done that, orignally the top part of therad was to be replaced, but it could get fixed so in went the new rad |
|
|
| Scintillater |
change the rad myself? HAHAHAHHAAH what do u think i am? a capable mechanic? *heheehe*
as for the boot by the cv joint, had that salvaged last year already, and it already had a rip last year.
as for the pricing, this wasn't at a dealership i got those prices from and it's all including labor.
we'll see what happens. i'll get someone to look at it and decide from there *sigh*
and coolant, leaking i'm looking directly AT the rad, and there's coolant around the lip where the rad is um...i don't even know how to describe it. rad looks like 2 pieces sealed, and the coolant is along the edges. it could either be leaking, OR, the cap is not tight and it's coming out the top? but i've tried to fix the cap on well. also, reason i think it's leaking is because the reservoir keeps getting lower..... |

actually the leak you ar e discribing is what I had, youl have 2 options:1) pull the rad out and take it to a rad shop to see if the top portion can be repaired, some times they can be fixed for about 100 bucks as loong as the rad core is not toast
or 2) replace the rad with another one
jus t keep an eye out for on your coolent level |

There is also something you can buy @ Canadian Tire...forget what it's called.
But you run it through your cooling system and it patches the holes...
TrevorK: ahhhhhh thanks :D |

That stuff plugs your rad sooo bad. My old rad was leaking and I didn't want to replace it. So I put that stuff in there and my rad blew up literally in a car wash. That and it leaves crud all of the damn place in the rad, hoses. I'm not too sure if it gets to the water jackets... |
