After reading all those posts about cars getting broken into, I'm getting more and more paranoid about leaving my CDs out in the open in my car.
How do you guys store your CDs in the car? Mine are in two CD wallets that I hide under the seats..but it's getting anoying with all the crud on people's shoes getting into my CDs.
And, no I don't have a CD changer :) |

| I'll bring 1 CD when I'm leaving my car parked, otherwise I'll leave 'em at home. |

depending where i go im not to concerned. If its just around st.albert or something i usually just stickem behind the seat and cover with a coat (its so dark back there you can't make anything out from outside the car)
If i go to wem or southside, ect. I usually pic a cd or 2 and leave the rest at home. |

| a sugestion is to put them in the trunk when u leave your car but im sure that would be a hassle. i dont think someones gonna take the time to break into a car to jack cds but with the theft going on lately id think twice about that lol. |

seriously, if you're worried about your CDs being stolen, make a copy of the ones you listen to the most and play those in the car
I have all my fav CDs copied onto my computer. |

It's not the CDs I'm worried about : it's the "breaking in" part. I don't want a bent/scrached/broken door or window to deal with.
Right now, I only have the crappy "alarm" that beeps the horn when I lock the car. I think people are so used to alarms going off that an alarm might not even be useful. |

Whats to explain? your average Mp3 is like 4-5 mb, a CD holds 700 mb... 700mb total divided by 4.5 per song is 155 songs |

Your regular CD player only reads WAV files. When you burn a CD of MP3s for your CD player they get converted into WAV files. These are much larger files than MP3s. |

In my Sentra the CDs stay in the center console.
When I had my Cavalier I had a black CD case that I stored underneath the radio. The one time I left the case on the seat someone broke in stole the CDs.
Keep them out of site and you shouldn't have a problem. |

Right, but you're using a tape deck adapter to play it through your car stereo right?
ASS quality at best with one of those, man |

No, a FM transmitter and I would be surprised if anybody could tell the difference. The only place where quality is lost is from wav to mp3 transfer.
If you think FM radio quality sucks then maybe, but then again it is being broadcast 10ft from my antenna. |

I had 200 cds stolen outta my truck a few years ago, since then my deck only places dupes..
Ive since found the aux input on my deck and use an ipod or my ibook to play music if i dont have the cd handy :)
I dont really have any place to keep alot of cds... in the door side map pockets sometimes..

I sure hope there aren't car thieve rings on this website (which there probably are) who monitor where everyone "hides" all their stuff...)
That would make things to easy |

| True enough if they wanted a specific members collection of music, but I think for the most part, people just keep their stuff out of sight so they hit the guy who does not. |

ouch, if you have to ask that you have no idea.
first make sure you have a drive that can "burn" CD's
then download (or make, but thats a lesson of its own) onto your computer, then select all hte ones you like and are good then use the direct to CD feature to put said MP3s onto the cd.
I think my way of having a stock deck and listening to radio for the most part, otherwise there is only the one cd in the deck.
People look in and see a clean car, all stock, nothing to steal, move on. |

I think you missed the boat, re-read the post. Burning audio CD's is no problem, but I'm wondering how to burn MP3 cd's specifically, as there is no "direct to CD" option on NERO software. |

Make up a temporary folder with the layout of the sub folders you want etc to put on the mp3 CD. Then highlight them all .. right click send to CD. When windows asks you if you want ot make a music CD or a Data cd select Data CD
very easy
or in nero just select data cd from the wizard. |

i found nero very unpleasant to burn mp3 cds with.
windows xp's built in burning program works perfectly just the way mwdguy suggested.
or get ez cd creator, which is an un-crippled version of the burning program that windows has. |
