Rust on wheel well under neath rear storage bin:( - Click HERE for Original Thread

1985mazdarx7
Hey. I was looking under neath a rear storage bins in my 1985 RX-7, like I removed them because I was finding out if I had the two amplifers for the stereo, (long story). Anyways I discovered I have the wheel well rust problem :( . I drove through some waterthe other day and the little bit of sound proofing was wet so the rust is bad enough water is leaking in but I think I can still fix it. So my question is what can I do to fix the rust problem. And how is water getting on the well in the first place because when I look in the wheel well outside the metal is in perfect condition so there must be another piece on the other side? I'm not sure what to do about the problem but luckily I think anyway the problem is minor even if water is getting in. So is there something I could do to seal up the area where the water is getting in, and sealing it underneath the car so the metal doesn't get wet anymore? Something like putting tar over it I was thinking of, or I could go all out and replace the damaged metal but after can I seal it so water outside doesn't touch the repaired area? I want to fix this because overall the body of my car is in great condition, so I was kind of surprised to see this rust already. Thanks to helping me out.
