Q: About RX-7 - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hello
I recently bought an RX-7 GX and someone told me about this site
saying it was a good place to go to ask questions and get to know people with these wicked cars. I figured I’d drop by the forums and maybe learn a thing or two from people who know something about RX-7’s

Anyways I figure my car is in pretty good shape for the price I paid. $1650 bought me and 1986 GX with a RE-Conditioned rotary(last summer) and a body which is in pretty good shape.
Never the less there is still some work that needs to be done.

So far I had to do some suspension work by replacing the rear wheel struts which was easy enough.

This one problem I’m having is really giving me a head ace because I don’t really know what the problem is and how to fix it. Thought maybe one of you guys could offer some advice.

It seems I’m losing fluid from my clutches master cylinder at a pretty fast pace. I have to keep adding fluid every week so the reservoir won’t run dry.

Obviously I’m losing fluid somewhere but I can’t figure out were the leak is.
I look high and low and can’t find a leak for the life of me

Any ideas?

well you definitly have a leak at the master or slave cylinder, probably the slave...

But anywho Conroy (4Kruzn) would be able to take a look at it for ya, or Doug at abbey road automotive (pm me for address).

Should get that fixed though cause if the clutch isn't full disengaging then your just pre-maturely wearing it out =/

If you are losing fluid like crazy but can't find it under the hood, stick your head under the dash and take a look at where the linkage from the clutch pedal goes into the firewall to the master cylinder. It is common for the rear seals on the master to cause it to leak INTO your car, where you won't see it under the hood.
Try that.

P.S. you won't prematurely wear the clutch because engagement will be fine due to the pressure plate. As long as you can shift gears still, clutch wear isn't really an issue.

Thanks for the advice
