| neither the site or the pictures work. how much are the owners asking for these cars? |
|
|

| I fixed the pics although they are better on the site and there are more. Prices are around what import concerns are. Do not quote me on the prices and from what I know the cars are in good shape and prices are very reasonable. |

WAY WAY TOO MUCH.....even if they were legal.

| lol what i find funny is why th 180sx is illegal? there allowed to be imported legally now unless this one was brought in a while back. |
|
|
| mx73someday |
The car was here in March or earlier, there were very few 180SX's legal in March that were available for import during that month (especially before March as none were made then).
Anways GTR pricing for a fine example will be in the $15 000- $25 000.00 range landed in Canada. |

Well I think that the potential future owners would care if their "cool car" gets siezed and they get jack shit in return. |

Hey, WTF happened to the thread with the statement from Import Concern's "lawyer", where he saidhe had notified like 6 gov't agencies of these illegals?
What was his name, Geoffry Truaux or something?... or was it Mr. Faux?:D
Anyways, I see the cars are still around. |

On this one it doesnt have any engine mods other than an intake, it doesnt have an aftermarket BOV and only has the front strut tower bar. The guy wanted 18,000 for it when i drove it which is way to much, lol. So yeah, basically im just saying that not only is it illegal, but that it doesnt even have the aftermarket parts that it says it does. |

Like i said...the prices for these cars are very comparable to those of Import Concern. Also, I didn't know that rb26's come with stock BOV's :dunno: but if they do, then WTF. In the pics, you can see the after market rims and spoiler ad stereo, im not sure if all the things listed are on the cars, but you do have to remember that when buying any used car, it is buyer be were. |

notifying cops and customs will only cause them to look harder and keep their eye focusing more on these imports, just let them be, sure they're illegal but I highly doubt anymore will be coming in. what's done is done :D
oh and for potential buyers, it's called buyer beware and NO the buyer is not out the money, he can sue the shit out of the person who brought an illegal car in in the first place, open and shut case |
|
|
| redbaron303 |
SAP is right, the buyer will initially be out of money if their car is seized but the importer has an obligation to perform a legitamate import.... so after a short battle in courts the screwed owner would get his money outta the illegal importer....
It's important to know what you're buying before you buy it. Remember that the police aren't going to do anything about this, it's not a police issue but rather a customs and revenue agency issue. If you've dealt with the gov't you know how slow they opperate, so with that said I just hope that the sucker who buys these overpriced, underconditioned machines doesn't get into any accidents... The main problem for the consumer is that when the insurance agency discovers that R32 Skylines were produced after May 1989 (GTR's after August 1989) they may have a problem allowing you to keep your insurance coverage on something that is a "1988 R32" Skyline... I know I wouldn't want to be charged with insurance fraud, I already pay a high premium.
It's just a matter of time before these guys fuck up importing for everyone else and we're left with the 10 cars they decided to bring in and aren't allowed any more... I know I still want my Evo 5 and that won't be for a few years. It's also a matter of time before these machines dissapear at the gov't's hands... False declarations to Canada Customs aren't exactly taken lightly. |
|
|
| socalsupra |
| so the only thing that makes these cars illegal is the fact that they are not old enough yet? |
|
|
| redbaron303 |
To my knowledge that is the biggest issue. Ask customs what making a false declaration can have happen, I've spoken with them on occasion to find out what can go down if something is here and it shouldn't be (mainly so I know the penalty for fucking up) and I've found it isn't pretty or cheap!
With that being said a false declaration to customs was made (which means sooner or later they will come for the cars), on paper the cars are not what they actually are in real life... I'm not saying they're bad cars and I've never said that. I did say they are particularily overpriced though (especially the GTSt's), but that's the sellers option to list them out for whatever he wants. Do understand that in any case as a buyer you one day will loose the car to customs Canada, then if you were to be investigated (accident or something?) and your insurance finds out it's not really what they're insuring I think they may be more than pissed that "you" lied to them even if you are none the wiser. |

Or in this case, buyer be-very-ware.
From what I've seen this guy asking for his cars they are nowhere near IC's prices.
Whatever, I'm not even going to bother anymore. Go ahead and buy your Skylines everyone, this guy has a ton of them to sell! Just don't say you were never warned. |

Is this not our typical Canadian government? These cars are not allowed to be imported here because they don't meet our safety regulations (most likely bumper laws), but magically after the car reaches a ripe age of 15 years old, suddenly it is now a completely safe car to import, and drive. You guys seem to focus on something that is brought over here "illegally", who gives a shit when it was brought here, obviously people have big issues with jealousy. If ANYONE really gave 2 shits about these cars being here, you wouldn't be whining because they are here 2-3-8 months early, you'd be whining because they don't meet our safety requirements, and NEVER WILL, if you want to start a petition, or contact some authorities, why don't you guys put your energy in something with meaning.
Do any of you really think our government is going to change its laws because they find some cars here illegally? |
|
|
| silvia s13 |
| He has been in the importing business for a while, and KNOWS ALL THE RISKS. |
|
|
| redbaron303 |
There's a good reason he still has most of his cars in stock and they haven't sold. Most of the people looking for these unique rides are not idiots!
But I agree with Chromey, someone go buy one of these cars... I want to see it at a meet soon! Why wait another couple months for some to land in Edmonton when these are already here. But when something does happen don't say you weren't warned.... SKylines are soooo tempting. |

i know for a fact that customs has been notified about these cars, and been provided the adress and contact information for the seller.
the fact that the cars are still here tells me that customs doesn't give care.
thoughts? |

| TheNeonEdge |
I dont see why people are makins such a fuss. Illegal things go on all teh time, and just sometimes people dont care at all because the only reason it is illegal is a stupid reason anyways.
I see people speeding all the time, and thats illegal, and most of the time if your going 5-10 over, cops dotn care. maybe same with this?! because its only a few months away they dont care?!

The links don't work, but arn't these the cars in Sherwood Park south on Sherwood Drive near Fountain Creek Estates? I have seen a bunch of illegals parked at a house there when I am driving.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd rather not lose a car to customs, or have to register it under something else just to drive it. What if you are in an accident? Does that not affect it when the car is not even registered right? How would you insure it correctly? It makes no sense to me why someone would risk something like that kind of money on a car that you can wait for and have no worries. |
|
|
| ChromeDragon |
I have two concerns.
One is that someone is going to buy one of these cars, get in an accident, have it stolen, siezed, etc. and be out the money.
Number two is that what happened in Australia might happen here. I don't want some impatient dealer bringing cars in to screw up mine and everyone elses chances of getting these amazing cars from Japan.
Do I care that the cars themselves are here? No, I quite enjoy looking at them and I'm sure the future owners will love driving them. Do I care that myself and others could quite likely get fucked over by this bullshit? You bet your ass I do.
