Question on Intakes. - Click HERE for Original Thread

Well, i drive a 93 SRV.. Just wondering if there really is a difference on a generic Cold Air Intake and an AEM, or an AEM v2..

i have a generic one right now.. and the thought crossed my mind that an AEM might be better? i dont know. And if it is better.. is it worth the money to change over?

Id appreciate anyones thoughts on this..

Also, im looking into getting AEM Tru-Power pulleys.. 93 SRV.. anyone had this done on their h22.. and if u have what kind of difference did u notice? opinions on this would be appreciated too :P

cheers

Are you talking about short ram intakes? because those are different from CAI, they sit in the engine bay and take hot air off the engine, where a CAI the pipe goes right down infront of the front wheel where the filter is and pulls cold air in, Im not sure if it would be worth the money to switch over, but you will notice a difference...nothing big, but you will notice one

MilanoSRV
im not asking how it works. i know what the difference is.

i CURRENTLY have a generic COLD air intake. im wondering if switching to AEM would make a diff COMPARED to the generic one.

maybe you should have made that clear in your original post...since AEM does make a SRI and CAI.

And to answer your question, no it wouldn't be worth the change. Just get a better filter...HKS if you want the best IMO.

Intake: I had an AEM cold air on my first lude, had an Injen ready to go on the second. Injen dyno tests all thier intakes as far as I know - so if you wanna make sure you're sqeezing every single ounce of horsepower from you CAI, pay the little extra and buy an Injen RD CAI. BUT, that being said, I honestly don't think you'll feel a big increase in power from adding any CAI on a NA lude. I did notice a nice growl and alittle better top end with my AEM.

Pulley: I also had AEM power pullies on my lude. The H22 seemed to rev alittle freerer in my opinion. I had no problems with dimming lights or other side effects supposedly associated with pullies.

thnx mr2. im definately getting pulleys.
and im not going to change over to a different cold air intake.. i see it was PIPING is PIPING. a new filter MAYBE.

so were the pulleys worth it in your opinion?

I'd say they're worth it.

1) cheap mod - relatively speaking
2) looks nice in the engine bay ( mine were blue )
3) better throttle response
4) no negative side effects *for me* - ex. dimming lights

I would get them. Nice little upgrade for your H22.
