91-96 NSX's with the 5-speed & 270 hp ran ~ high-13s to low-14s stock.
97+ NSX's with the 6-speed & 290hp ran low 13's I think. |

um, nice run from a nice car, but you make it seem like this is some insanely fast ride.
sure it stomped a stock camaro SS, but cmon, its a 50k car that sounds nothing like stock, and i highly doubt its much good on a road course anymore.
not real impressive.
its not an 8 second street driven rx7 or supra, yet i bet it cost about the same...
if it looked and sounded dead stock, and ran a 11.44 while still being able to run nice times on a road course, id be a little more impressed. |

| That guy in the SS doesn't know how to drive. They are suppose to be like mid 13's aren't they? |

| NSX's are pretty sweet. Too bad they are so costly...:( |

No I just like that it's a car that you usually don't see running 11s.
I can see Supras and Camaros running 11s all day long, but not an NSX. |

Not Fast....c'mon man....what are you smokin ??? That car also sounds and looks very close to stock. And to get into the 11's you you're gonna spend big bucks...for a set-up that lasts. I will bet he still turns near stock road course times with that car too. Nitrous is a magical thing....now you see it...... now you don't. |

i didnt say "not fast"
i just didnt see much special about it... this is the internet, where within 5 minutes i can dig up a video of a z28 and a r34 running side by side 9 second passes, or maybe a supra running 8s and looking stock, or a viper that runs 10s with nothing but spray and a supercharger.
ok, maybe im jaded, but for a car thats loud assed, got a mild lump to the idle and hisses like a burning alley cat.... i dunno, i just expected better. |

Then how about you try and build a reliable 11 second car for cheap.....and you will see how tough it is. I have seen daily driven cars that sound just like you described...and they run 16's.;) |

sure, hand me the cash and ill be on my way.
a fox body mustang with a 460, supercharger and some structural work should get me close, then maybe spray, a bit more pulley and some slicks. i bet id be running fairly easy 11s, having spent maybe 35-50k$... less than the price of most used nsxs.
yeah, ive seen cars that sound like that too... mine has a little lump in it and hisses at idle and i run 16s, but my car is also stock and i never claimed it was quick, but once i put some money into it, things will change.
hell, id be proud to own an 11 second car, or even a stock nsx, but ive already owned a 10 second bike. :)
on another note, why are you getting so upset?
you arent defending the honda name here guy, i made a comment about a car and now your all bent outa shape.
im sure my opinion doesnt matter a damn to the guy who built the car, and im sure hes proud of his car no matter what i say.
so why are you irate because i said it wasnt horribly fast? |

This post reeks of ignorance.
An 11-second NSX is insanely fast, for an NSX - on street tires.
How many 8 second RX-7 & Supras do you think even exist in North America? You make them sound so common. And how many of them ran those 8 second runs (or even 9 or 10 second runs) on "street tires"?
And what if anything are you basing your assumption on that it mustn't be good on a road course anymore?? |
|
|
| dogstar |
im basing the roadcourse comment on the theory if youve got that much suspension tuning into making it hook in a straight line on street tires, it generally doesnt handle nearly as well as it used to, compromises have to be made somewhere, usually in the wallet or overall performance.
doesnt apply to every car, but for a generalization, its fairly accurate.
i musta struck a nerve here, this is kinda funny.
why is it insanely fast for an nsx on street tires?
i wish i could find the video page i used to look at, there were about 5 nsxs running 11s and lower.
one of them, which i believe was in japan, ran 11.10s and still ran a damn fast road course time, but he also had something like 90000 into the car.
of course, this begs the question, what do they consider "street tires"? drag radials are DOT legal, and i think so are some treaded slicks, yet they are not daily driver type tires.
call my posts ignorant if you want, but i stated my opinion of the video, dont get your panties in a bunch telling me my opinion is wrong. |

Again you're making an assumption here. Unless I missed something in the original post, it was just a video clip. Where did you get the information that the guy with the NSX did something radical with his suspension to set it up in some kind of drag-only configuration?? |

the new SS comes with an LS1 (so do the new z28's, but the SS has more power)
the driver of that ss should be hitting better times |

Yeah the LS1's put out 325 hp stock I believe... Plus they are all aluminum :D. The car is very capable of running 13's all day long, I dont think they get faster then about 13.4 stock though.
Thats a very fast NSX though... |
