| Hey, I'm pretty new to the whole car mod scene and very new to the import scene (I got my 4th gen in January after dreaming about it for years). But now that I have my car and summers coming, I'm starting to get the itch to modify my car. I have a few ideas in mind, just the usual. . . rims, exhaust, intake, stuff like that. I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestions as to what to do first and what parts have/haven't work for them and their preludes. Thanks for any input. I look forward to seeing some more preludes out at Bud this weekend. |

| mods are always according to the modders taste...what do you want to mod for, racing? looks? street driving (by that i mean street racing but thats just rice) etc etc....if your going for performance i would highly suggest getting the suspension out of the way first. Nice set of real coilovers if you want to go aggressive, otherwise a new set of shocks and springs will work, get a camber kit as well because your camber wear on your tires will be astronomical. After suspension look into what you want, looks you can go for the traditional rims maybe a nice clean kit..there are also many cool tricks you can do with modding your car for 4th gens like removing the amber from the tails, putting mesh in the front nostrils, lots of little things..anyways its always up to you what you want ppl cant decide for you whats best for your taste |

its a pretty long process it takes a shitload of patience..
basicly you put your tail lights on a peice of tin foil in the oven at 250 C for as long as it takes to soften the silicon. they say about 3 min but i put mine in for 4 and it was still hard so just let it sit as long as it needs. the longest portion of this is prying the black back piece away from the lense. be very careful because the plastic is old and cracks very easy i cracked mine but it was on the back where it cant be seen. Pry the Orange and white lense out of its place. Go to home depot and buy some fluorescent light covering, the white plastic stuff that covers the lights in office buildings, trace a section of the plastic using the old lense and cut it. I personally just used a torch to heat the plastic up and used scissors to cut it but most ppl say use a dremel. Then just pop the new lense in the old lense place. Put the pieces back in the oven for another 5 or so min until the glue is gooey then press it back together, its also suggested you pick up some clear silicon and rebead the seal but it may not be necessary. done =D there are much better write ups out there but this is how i did mine |

| go down to mopac and pick up an aem cold air intake. i think it's cheapest there and this is the best mod for the cash! |

| I've been flipping through my magazines and I keep noticing the Tein High Tech springs. Has anybody heard anything about them? Or any progressive spring? I want to lower my car, but I'm not to keen on slamming it to the ground or driving around with dumptruck ride quality. Are these the way to go? Also, how much of a drop requires me to get a chamber kit? And will I need to get new struts or can I just run with my old ones? |

| my knowledge of 4th gens. Camber kit highly recomended with any drop. Absolutely need one after 1.5 but even before that you will get some camber wear. As for the shocks, its also highly recomended they will last you a couple months maybe but after that it will feel like your driving on a gravel road. As for teins i have no experience. Im trying to find Koni Yellows and eibach sports but i cant seem to find a price for them except ebay. Maybe james can help me out therE?!??! heh |

| So would you recommend spending the extra cash to get a complete new suspension?? What am I looking at as far as costs go, ballpark figure, for fully adjustables? |
|
|
| 92_WhItE_H23 |
| depends on what suspension method u use...REAL tein coilovers will set you back atleast 1100 not including install...if u go new shocks and springs ur proly in the range of 700-1100 including install depending on brand name |

| What are my benfits in going with real adjustables? I'm going to be getting rims this summer too, but I'm undecided if I want to go with 18's or 17's. Will one setup be better suited for one size?? Also is there anything else that I should be taking into consideration in getting 18's over 17's? |
|
|
| 92_WhItE_H23 |
| yes ahaha money....18's are going to be very expensive and tire size will have to match OEM size. otherwise your speedo will be out. also lowering it with 18's will probably require a little work in the wells to make room otherwise it will rub everywhere..your better off with 17's better yet 16's then you can get a sufficient drop and get more performance out of the rims and tires, bigger rims = less performance |
