| at the track i launch at whatever i feel comfortable at. I just listen to the engine and dump the clutch. by doing this i get 0.02Xs r/t's |

Hahaha, gets one good reaction time at the track and all the sudden he's the drag racing king!
There are many factors to decide what you should launch at. Type of tires, torque at any given rpm, track conditions, etc. Just experiment with different rpms and try to find a compromise between tire spin and the engine boggin down. Sometimes a little tire spin isn't a bad thing if it means your engine revs stay up and you're able to hit second gear all that much faster.

Reaction time has nothing to do with your launch. You could stall your car off the line at the track and get a perfect light.
If you are just looking at what rpm to launch at to get a quick run, ever car is different. I have never driven a corolla so I have no clue. It usually depends on how much torque the car has though. In my car for instance, I can't rev above 2500rpm or I don't go anywhere. When I have driven my buddy's RSX-S, if you want a really quick launch, you have to rev up to at least 5000rpm and not let the clutch out to quick or the car will bog and then it feels like it takes forever for the car to get back up to the powerband.
So for your corolla, bottom line is to just practice. :) |

and ya silver z24 u got a point there.
best thing i can tell you to do is in the rain see what ur car likes to launch at. it is different than on dry pavement but you get an idea.

You know that your R/T has absolutely NOTHING to do with your E/T right ? |

why ? it has no bearing on your E/T ... work on getting your 60's down. Thats where you can win a race .. |

Your buddy's RSX must have some sticky-ass tires, cause I don't go anywhere in mine when I drop it at over 3500 rpms. |

That is at Budpark. I agree, on the street it is different. |

| Like stated above it all depends. I can't rev up my motor and dump the clutch cause all it does it spin like a mofo. I rev it up to about 4500rpm and do a really quick slip of the clutch. The slipping also helps on the turbo spool on my car. |

Hahaha yah, Even with tread on the tires though, i still spin like a mofo. I can be in 3rd gear at 90 and punch it and spin the tires in the rain... its kinda scary.  |

Read it again, Rich. I said even with tread on the tires/new tires i can spin at 90kph in 3rd gear. |

Sam
practicing in the rain really isnt gonna help him launch in dry conditions.
last corolla i drove was a few years ago, but i remember i could launch it ok if i brought the rpms up around 3800 and slipped the clutch off the line.
keep your foot in the gas, not too hard though.
rpms might need changing and i cant tell you how long to slip it, or when to fully engage it.
once you get started, practice and have a buddy time you to 60kph or whatever you feel comfortable with.
no point in thinking your fast unless you know your launching faster. :) |

| Heres an idea. Launch at the highest possible rpms that you can without gettin massive tire spin. Everyone knows the perfect launch is when you get a small chirp from your tires and then your off. Too much spin and you lose massive time, not enough rpms power and you are slow off the line. The only way you will find this out is by practicing. Its somewhat hard because it really depends on your location. Be it at the track or at the street. |
