On my way back from Work, rippin along everything is great. Hit a stop light and off the line everything is fine till i go from 2nd - 3rd i get a gear grindin noise, Yes my foot was all the way down. I find it strange, so i shift to 4th then back to 3rd, No grind. Next light i go off again and once again 2nd to 3rd here we are grindin.
I got a GS-R engine tricked out with the tranny and short shift. When i take a long time and slowly shift 2nd to 3rd it is fine. However if i try and go at any rate of speed it yells at me. Its sorta like it is not slidin into the proper gear? Just want some thoughts. Had my dad drive it and he had the same problem so its not me missin the clutch push or something. |

Also addin to it, I drove it around a bit tonite and the noise went away for first 5-10mins then all sudden off the line iwent hard and pay attention to 2-3 and i got a wierd noise. With high revs or low revs irun into problems if i shift quick. It when i take my time i dont have any issues.
I am just lookin for any thoughts before iwaste my day off on something that is simple or difficult. So just want some thoughts. |

Sounds to me like the syncro mesh is wearing out...
You might want to consider how long it has been since your tranny fluid has been changed, over time moisture can build up in there resulting in more friction...
Something to consider, also I recommend REDLINE Synthetic tranny fluid. |

3rd gear grind = common Honda tranny problem
check out this thread, I put up the part # for the AC Delco fluid:
http://forums.780tuners.com/showthr...;threadid=17561
Redline MT-90
or
AC Delco Syncromesh
are the 2 fluids that MANY honda guys use to get rid of the 3rd gear grind
in the end, you will have to replace the syncro but a good tranny fluid helps it out
if you haven't found yourself a useful Honda technical site, might I recommend to you:
www.honda-tech.com
it is THE Honda Technical website (honda-tech.com duh) and has an EXTREMELY huge wealth of information (extremely is an understatement)
good luck and USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION before you make a thread, or you WILL get flamed :)

| Doesn't sound like your problem - but check your floor mats. All too often they creep up under the clutch pedal, and when you think it's fully engaged, it's not. |
