I have a 1990 Sentra and have a problem:
Symptoms:
When I am driving over 40kms, there is a humming noise coming from the front left tire area. This noise comes only when I am steering right but is happens even when I am turning the wheel slightly. Also at about 60kms there is a grinding noise that only lasts for a few seconds and it is only when I am at that speed and steering right.

I have 50% left on the front breaks and also the c/v drive shaft has been replaced within the last year. Also an alignment was done a few weeks ago. If anyone knows what this might be or what needs to be replaced, please post. Any ideas on what is causing this would be wonderful

Thanks

:dunno: I'm just starting to learn about cars, but my guess is that the humming is from bad wheel bearings. :p Don't flame me if I'm wrong haha.

I just did the passenger side wheel bearing, so you could be right, but I don't have the same symptoms when that one went. I'll pull off the tire and check it out tomorrow. Could it be the lower ball joint? That is my only other guess but im not sure what the symptoms are when they go.:dunno:

I'd assume that when you got your alignment, they checked ball joints/tie rod ends (Usually they do - because those affect tire wear)....Call up the place you went to to check.

Its most likely the wheel bearing the joints should still be fine unless you have been givin'er around the corners and hittin them speed bumps fast :p

Yup. my vote goes to the wheel bearing too :) I changed mine on my '91 NX last year...
