Hey every one got a couple questions im not to familiar with trannys so if some one could help me out that would be great

Ok so im getting a new tranny casue my 2nd gear is slipping so i could get it rebuilt but the 3.8L that the Buicks come with could haul so much more ass if the tranny shifted gears faster are there any modles of the other GM vehicles that would fit ? i was thinking the Grand Prix GTP tranny but i dont know if it would fit?? :dunno:

Shifts faster?

Sounds like you need to go see a performance shop for a possible valve body upgrade. I'd recommend talking to Pro Tech Transmissions - they're great guys, who do performance tranny work.

Further you could do some research on the net to see what is available in terms of shift kits, torque convertors, and of course a tranny cooler.

Altezza
Yeah to shift faster because sometimes when i have to giv'er in the lower gears the tranny will shift at high rev's unless i let go of the gas completely and floor it again to cheat the compresion but thats losing speed letting go of the gas but tnx for the info il go talk to the guys at Pro tech

Hey Altezza,

Check out ClubGP.com or GrandPrix.net as well. They should be able to provide you with some details.

A lot of the guys there are gearheads themselves and they know the 3800 engine and tranny in and out.

Best of luck!

No worries. Anytime.

You can fit any GM fwd tranny in there.... But i'd put money down for a 4T65-HD. There are some GP guys running wicked times on those things, and there are plenty of hop up parts for them..

All the fiero guys with heavy duty motors run those trannies... or the 4T80[e]'s from a northstar/4.9 cadillac..

Ahhh oh yes, I know ZZPerformance!!

I thought you were referring to GTP's locally. I wanted to see if they were members in the Grand Prix club or not.

Thanks!
