CHeck this out, car thefts are down 35% because of this new approach,
maybe the EPS should pull some cops off muffler and tint patrol and actually do something worthwhile like this.

i was watching 5th estate, or venture... or one maybe it was the passionate eye? :dunno:
either way it was a CBC news show, and this program is already in use in Vancover and Toronto, and it's starting in Ottawa and Montreal.
so don't worry, it may be on the way.
But you need to understand our car theft rates, although bad, PALE in comparison to places like those where this system is in use. |

| Actually it's not that hard to get around. If you suspect the car to be a setup then obviously don't take it but a way to get around the lock doors is simply have the doors slightly open so they cannot lock! :dunno: |

That's exactly the point, they want the theifs to think that the cars they're jacking are setup cars, hence the theft rate decreases
Even if you dont lock the doors, the camera is still on, and the gps is on your ass, what would not locking the doors do?? The only thing I can think of is that you are free to run once they try to pull you over |

yes, that's exactly what i said, they could run if they want to, but how is that getting around the system?:dunno:
they still got the thiefs on tape and are following them by gps, and it looks like the doors only lock when the cops are about to move in...so how is leaving the door unlocked getting around the system? I agree, you can still run and get beat down if you want, that's about it |
