my parents own a place in wested and they came home early cause of the flooding they shut down half the mall. on global they reported golf ball size hail around hartiage(sp?) mall.

Terawatt_99
was anyone on whyte when the hail hit? holy shit...

i volunteer at streetfest, and we actually had to evacuate the atb big tent because the hail was so intense... somehow i found myself holding the door open to the theater, with my left arm outside in the hail, and i wound up completely soaked, with about three dozen visible welts on my forearm...

after it stopped all the storm drains were completely clogged with ice shunks, and we had to break out the brooms and huge squeegees to start clearing it out... when i finally made my way over to 84th avenue, the hail was so thick i could make a snow angel... and i did :D when i get a copy of the picture i'll scan it for you guys

REFLUX
I was @ WEM & the westend for the majority of the storm
I saw the 170st/whitemud overpass flooded and the trailer floating around in the water

amazing amounts of rain & hail...

2nd floor parking of WEM was flooded & shutdown...good thing I left before that happened.

Genki
yea i was coming back from teh west end around 4.30... goin east on yellowhead.. weirdest sight i saw..

Water was being sprayed outta the sewers on yellowhead.....

Shimarisu
I was working outside in St. A, and man... it was crazy for just one hour (I believe it was between 16:30 to 17:30) I was shivering to hold onto the steering wheel...but gotta do my job...

After rain, I might have seen you on the road, Flex. Were you driving around Akinsdale? If not, maybe another blue WRX on the road...

POX
oh shit my sister has been parking my car out side :(

SilverZ24
I stayed in after it started and I'm glad. Although I got no hail at my place, my car at least is still parked in the garage perfectly clean. :D

nope...wasnt us, we stayed down by the other safeway and as soon as it started raining hard we headed home.

energie
On A-channel they showed a guy on his jet ski going around his block, it was funny he was circling a car that was under water

snugs
My street made it onto CBC and Global! It was just a torrent of water like friggin river rapids, but it was running down the hill so nobody got flooded.

We got to watch the storm move up from the south. It was crazy, there were little funnels forming and disipating as it past over the city, absolutely amazing to watch.

Entire part of St. A man:bthumbup: I work as a transporter here. It started raining hard when I was heading to Grandin from Forest lawn, then, went back to Pineview by Sir Winston Churchill... and yeah, there was Silver Caravan photoradar hiding in the parking lot of the school even under that squall... I honked at him as usual:lol:

Sorry, the pics aren't resized...

Well, I was at South Common with my friend when the hail started, and everyone was looking for cover. We ended up parking our cars in a parkade near 23 Ave. She was following me and she said she could barely make out my lights cause the hail/rain was so thick. You could see maybe 2 or 3 car lengths in front of you and it sounded like the hail was gonna punch a hole through the roof of your car or shatter the glass. Damn frightening weather. Picture of hail next to the parkade:

So we wait it out until the hail turns into rain. I need to get home cause my mom calls and tells me the sewage is backed up and we got serious flooding. Traffic is crazy cause there are too many giant puddles. I'm lowered so as I crossed one of the 23 Ave. puddles I shut off my ignition and coast to avoid hydrolock. Car seems to have suffered no damage :). Anyway, I find out I'm blocked off from home by two other deep puddles that I don't feel like attempting to coast through. Here's one of them:

So we take my friend's car, cause she's not lowered. A hundred feet from my house, we're greeted by this:

That's the street at a 'T' intersection perpendicular to our keyhole.

Here's the lake that our keyhole turned into: That's damn cold water too!!!

This is the water line, you can see by the debris how far up the driveway the water got.

This pic is self-explanatory and NASTY!

Shop vac's and pumps goin'.

We hauled/pumped at least 70 buckets of water out of my house. Took about 4 hours until the sewage cleared up and started to drain water instead of pushing water into our basement. By the end of the night we had 4 big shop vacs going on the carpet.
7 out of 10 houses in our crescent had flooding, mostly bad flooding too. Guess it could've been worse, roof could've collapsed like at WEM.

I got lots more pics of damage to our basement, but those are for the insurance company

$3642 to fix the hail damage on my car. At least I wasn't in the west end, my car only got pelted for 20 mins with hail stones half the size of golf balls. FUCK!

Holy shit, thank god i didn't go out that day.

Quintessence
I hate this bullshit, not only is my house messed I just found out my car didn't come out unscathed.

Well, I thought that coasting through the puddle with my ignition off meant that my car would suffer no damage.

But after the sun's come out today I looked at my car and wow, my car has like 60 dents on the hood, 30 dents on the roof, a bunch on the trunk. It looks nasty. Just wish I had gotten to that parkade earlier to escape the hail.

Edit: I'm gonna visit Jaehn's Autobody for the estimate, is that a good place to go?

MightyMidget
WOW.....sometimes I think it is great that I now have a Jeep that is VERY high and could go through most of that water no problem....

S

stealth
wtf are these people thinking? do they actually think they can drive through the water?

You're insurance should cover it - I'd call them up right away to get the ball rolling.

SilviaDrifter
