Anybody had something like this happen??
My engine seize up today... not sure from what. It got lots of rain & hail, but the driveway never got flooded or anything...
Anyways, called a tow truck. Asked for a flatbed since i was told thats the only thing i should use with my bodykit. So i asked for one and got told that the incline & winch combo they have to use isn't the most ideal way to go....
The guys said they've done alot of ricer style cars with the usual lift & dolleys in the back. So thats what we did!!....... My car was just high enuf to get the lift under the front. I was worried about the lack of clearance in the rear, so i opted for the dolleys. He hooked them up, and lifted the rear about 8inches of the ground.
ALL WAS GOOD!!
Then he started to back up and the dolley bar popped of!! The rear hit the ground and the rear bumper shot off. (I am sooo Happy that i haven't lowered it yet, cause the stock suspension is what saved the sideskirts from being crushed).
I nearly had a heart attack.... when all was done after the loud noise and the crackin, the only thing i could find damaged was the hidden fibreglass bracket that held the passenger side rear on.
Having sucha good day  |

hold on a sec...
you havn't even lowered your car yet, and the dolleys would barely fit?!
is the kit hanging off the car or something? Sounds like your car is WAY too low man, and not in the "good" way either...
Think about it: you have all the dissadvtages of being super low to the ground (like the one you just experienced), and none of the advantages of a properly lowered suspension kit.
I kinda flinched when you said the tow d00d said he'd "towed alot of ricer style cars", imaging some fat muscle head calling anything japanese a "ricer" car, but.... after what you just told me....:dunno: |

no no.... the dolleys fit fine
the big metal bracket that locks around the front tires was what barely fit (5in clearance in the front... metal bracket was about 43/4in) My rear bumper sits about 5-51/2in off the ground... but at the angle it was raised at when it was without dolleys was about 2in off the ground. So when the dolley collapsed the spring compression caused the rear bumper to hit the ground.
It is a low bodykit compared to most else... but thats its style (Its not a shawdy kit or crappy install)
The tow dude didn't say the ricer comment... it was some young guy i'd got when i called for the truck. |

| Was it Kingsway towing by any chance they did the same think to my car almost, and then they denied it and didn't want to pay to repair it. They tried to say I hit a curb. It was about a year ago and I still get steamed when I thing about it. |

I almost called Kingsway... but my sis just started yelling 'NO'...apparently she's heard abunch of really bad stuff about them..
This was Grandin Towing in St.Albert
The guy said right away he'd pay for any repairs... and when we got the car to the mechanics he gave me his work card & wrote his cell & home phone on the back. |

ahhh ok, my mistake on poor lowering job :)
live and learn.
Glad to hear the d00d said he'd pay for everyting right away.
If i need a tow, they get my call... :)
Granted, my car would most likely fit in the back of any 1/2 ton truck :P (not weight wise of coure... but close :p ) |

Cliff's towing seems really good... I've had a bunch of cars towed by them and their drivers always seem cautious and patient w/ our kinda cars. :)
Heard nothing but bad about kingsway unless you get a flatdeck truck.... |

| I went with a flatbed when I had my RX-7 towed, worked like a charm, although with the stock front lip on it wouldnt go up the incline without taking the stock front lip off, lucky me my stock front lip didnt come with the car, so I still dont have one. |
