GQsmooth
who else got their car fucked up yesterday? Shiet my car is riddled with dents from the storm. Who does good body work, for reasonable pricing? :dunno:

5g lude

When I was living in TX there was golf ball hail at least twice a year, you shoulda seen the new cars that shit messed up. Theres specialty shops there that do it paintless, not sure about where youre at. If anyone wants to get a new car at a HUUUGE discount, get a hail damaged ride.

Why does price matter - if you have a 5G lude isn't it covered by Comprehensive in your insurance policy?

My fiancee got some hail damage to her car on sunday. She was down around the Heritage Mall area. She said it was marble size hail... I only found about 5 or 6 dimples in her paint, they are faint and shallow but there nonetheless.

Oh well, at least its only a Sunfire... (which we'll be getting rid of next year anyway).

GQsmooth
it was on the southside, and yes they are around marble size, a few even chipped the paint..I'm not sure if it is even worth going through insurance, since it might jack it up....Can anyone reccomend a good palce for dent removal?

Hail damage is like theft - a no fault claim, so it should go up.

What body panels have hail damage? If it's the hood/roof/trunklid, it's probably worth it to make a claim as repair/repaint on it will cost a bit...

Edit: Just realized, that should be "...shouldn't go up..."

most damage is on the hood and the trunk, there is some done to the front fender

To just repaint the hood/trunk/fender you'd probably be looking at 500 MINIMUM without any work removing dents. Again, that's a bare minimum to repaint those three pieces in base/clear paint (With no prep work involved).

I'd hazard to guess (without seeing of course) the claim will be $1000 or more, which means you'll save money going through insurance.

500 to paint the hood, trunk, and fender,
damn, you going to maco or something?

your insurance will not go up from this, its a no fault, and there shouldnt even be a deductable.

A good shop like dougs place will tally that up to about 3k damage if it needs painting. if not more.

I said minimum for a reason.

As I can have it painted for less than that with quality being good, so I'm sure other people can too.
