Need a good shop in Capliano area.. - Click HERE for Original Thread

Anyone know of any good shops in the capliano area?

Something let go in my car, and its not going to be pretty :(

I cant quite put a finger on it; it sounds awful, and i dont feel like starting it again to listen closer :(

Any suggestions and personal experiances are welcome!

Note: I'd just take it to zippies if no one can suggest something, but they are on the total opposite side of town.. for "Just a diagnosis" it seems a bit extranious, but I might just end up towing it there anyways..

My brother's shop is on 50th st. 7020-50th. It's Johnson Onysty auto & RV repair. 469-9172 Just down the road from Capilano mall.

Ask for Jimmie, and tell him Adam sent you. I was telling him about your car yesterday, actually. :p

They're no cheaper than anywhere else, but I can guarantee high quality work. It's only a diagnosis anyway.

JO Auto
I've been trying to convince Kevin (the owner) to get more into performance mods too.

ABC Muffler does good work from what I've heard as well.

There's also Schwabe Auto just south of Sherwood Park Freeway on 50 St (East side of road). That one is a family run business and I know the son.

Yeah, ABC is JO's exhaust and hitch shop. Good team.

Car is at JO's right now...

we'll see how things go :)

btw, whos the lil blonde doing reception? :)

That's Kevin's daughter, Cassie. And she's in high school, if that makes a difference. ;)

Did you ask for Jimmie, and say who sent you?

SplineZ

Bob. Yeesh, that guy's a card in his own rite.

I swung by after I read your post. Jim said, "When he fired it up, it didn't sound pretty.", or something to that effect. Meaning, we haven't had a chance to take a look at it yet. :D

Kevin was like a kid in a candy store. 'Yes, yes. Send them this way, Adam.'

So, what kind of acting up is it doing? I assume noisy. Any specific symptoms?

Turned onto belgravia road in traffic at 15kph, started making awful sounds.. off'd the ignition, pulled over to the side.. It wouldnt start.. Let it cool off for a bit.. tried to start it again, sounded like the starter wasnt meshing with my flywheel anymore (sounds like running your fingers across a screen really fast) and then awful grinding sounds..

last time i started it was with bobs head in the engine bay.

Ive heard ideas from stripped flywheel, grenaded clutch, to spun main bearing, and broken conrods.. I honestly dont know what to think.. I'd love to do the work myself, but i dont have a spare vehicle, nor the tools to disassemble (or space) :)

Update:

JO's says I have a bottom end knock. Busted rod, or Spun main. Looks like the car is out until further notice.. BOO!

Unless I can find and engine cheap enough, it wont be fixed until im in kelowna..

well Im bummed out that it happend.. but kinda happy it did.. no more speeding tickets :D and I was looking for a reason to swap in a 3800SC

That's the ticket. Same reason I'm trying to blow the motor in my T-bird. :D

Sucks though, that you don't have a whip now. So, are you even going to try pulling the oil pan and see how much damage you've got? May as well, if it's just going to sit there. Doesn't cost anything to do that?
