RDS Celica
Hey everyone, just thought I would share a few things and mabey help some of you guys out. I have been doing alot of work lately on my own car (as some of you may already know :) )as well as quite a few other MR2s so I thought I would try to extend my friend and customer base and let you guys know about some other services/installs/products I can do/get. Here are some examples :

brand new OEM 94+ taillight conversion -> $700 INSTALLED :D

HKS FCD install -> $30 (fcd not included... duh hehe) :p

SAFC I or II install -> $60 (quite an involved process because harness has to be lengthed by about 6ft. and ran through 2 firewalls)***does not include tuning. just inital setup :)

Boost controllers -> $40 and up depending on the type of boost controller(electronic/manual), mounting location, etc.

Intake, exhaust, downpipe and turbo installs, 5s -> 3s swap, clutch change, general maintanence, gauges, etc.... you get the idea and I can do the work for you at a considerable amount less than it would cost at another shop. Not to mention I actually know what Im doing on these cars!

If you need work done don't hesitate to ask. I can almost garuantee that I can do the job cheaper than any other estimate you will get. I try to determine price by the entire "job" and it also depends on what you have done to your car. (ex. if you have aftermarket exhaust/b pipe/dp it will be ALOT easier for me to do a turbo swap than on a car with stock exhaust and save both time and money).

Im not trying to make millions here people :)... I've just seen cars comming from shops that supposedly know what they are doing and soon enough they are asking me what is wrong and I have to fix the shop's fuckups... i would not be a very happy customer spending more money on less expertise and having more problems:mad:

Anyways, if you ever need something done or are looking for a specific part, let me know. I'm in the process of trying to track down a case of NGK 6097s (spark plugs) so if you are looking for a set of those I will hopefully have my hands on some soon.

I will be in calgary for SCC and in the SCN show next weekend so stop by and say hey if you see me. peace

-Rob

how long would it take to install tail lights?

ND4SPD
Geez Rob!

Do you also do work on MK1's? any chance you have hook ups for body rust repair/paint?

Do you also do engine timing?

90CRXsi
1_hot_deuce : It should take about 1 hr tops. Even less time if the rear firewall does not need to be "modified" to allow the new reverse lights to fit ( I know on my car I didnt have to). Other than that the hardest part is the harness :)

ND4SPD : Unfortunatley I'm not as familar with the AW11s as I am with the sw20s. However, once it comes down to the engine basics and engineering I'm sure its probably quite similar to that of the sw20s. Even saying that, I would still have to get a better feel for working on them before I attempted anything major for someone else.... unless you want to be the guinea pig :D hehe

I dont really have any hookups body-wise right now since the guy that did all my bodywork for me does not have room to paint completes as of yet (only panels and small stuff). Doug's place does really good work (thats where my buddy works right now) but im not gonna lie, it wont come cheap :(

I forgot to log my friend off before I signed in..

blown_mr2
So you would supply and install everything for 7 bills for the tail lights?

i.e. You would pickup the parts and I would take my car where?

Sounds like a good deal.

Maybe before Summers done. Rims and suspension hit me hard. :D

mister_tu
damn no parts for mk1's?

Yep. Includes both R+L tail lamps, painted center piece (specify your body color, however some paint codes changed from 91-94 ex. red and yellow), reverse lamps, and 94+ harness. I will do everything required to make them function and fit on your car. :)

As for where to go, you can just swing by my house like everyone else seems to do or for another 5 or 10 bucks (to cover gas) I can come to wherever you want and put them in. :)

what rims did you end up getting anyways? lowering mr2s and slapping on some rims does wonders for the car!

mister_tu : if you are looking for a specific part then feel free to PM me and I will do my best to come up with something and let you know what I find. :D I can beat list prices of most OEM toyota parts so keep that in mind. This goes for everybody else too!

On a related note, my case of NGK 6097s came in so if any of you are looking for a set I have em! $25 for a set of 4 and mabey if you are nice I will even help you put them in haha. ;)

(for those of you that are unfamilar, these are the NGK copper plugs that are HIGHLY recommended if you have a modified sw20 and are running significantly higher boost levels)

If these are compatible with the 4AGE's...I would take them.
$25.00 for four right? :D

Rob, so you can get better deals on Toyota OEM...hmmm
Let me know of the price of the 4AGE TUNE UP parts
1. Distributor cap
2. Rotor
3. Wire Plugs
4. 02 sensor

Thanks!

Sounds like a great deal. You'll most likey be hearing from me once I clear up some bills.

I bought these wheels in a staggered fitment.

mr2_import
rob pm me a price for an oem speedo cable how much and can you install it plzzz!

mister_tu
need the same as nd4spd
4AGZE

1. Distributor cap
2. Rotor
3. Wire Plugs

can you get those?

RDS Celica
ND4SPD and mister_tu :

If you guys dont mind, could you PM me the year and engine of your cars? I will need to know so I can insure I get the right parts. I'll try to get you guys an estimate on monday and you can see what you think :) oh, and unfortunately the NGK plugs are meant for 3sgte engines so as far as I know I wouldnt try using them in 4ages or 4agzes. if there is a special NGK plug that is best for MK1 application I will find out and order a case if there is some interest :)

Mike : I'll need to know that same info from you (year and engine) if you dont mind. And as for installing a speedo cable, from my experience it is no fun at all trying to replace one :) haha. to be honest im not sure if thats even a job I want to attempt. I wrestled with mine for over an hour trying to get the gauge cluster out of my car and eventually just said fuck it and left it in. sorry mike :( If you are still insterested in getting a new speedo cable anyways, let me know that info.

blown_mr2 : looks good! seems like you went the same route I did : lightweight and staggered. Those will look very nice

Anyways, I'm off to Calgary so wish me luck at SCC :D peace

mr2_import
ya rob still interest to get the speedo cable can you get me a quote i got one from oem for 150 cause I knew one of the guys there can you beat that price lol 86 mr2 4age thxs

chk PM....cheers!

Rob: I noticed you have a Momo steering wheel. Did you fabricate anything to get the horn working? If you did, let me know what it would cost me. I need my horn working so I can honk at hot chix!!

Sunil

RDS Celica
Sunil : My horn worked fine after I put my steering wheel on, so yours should work unless one of the wires is hooked up wrong or else you are missing something :dunno:

Next time we get together I will take a look at how everything is connected and see what the problem could be :D

Oh ya, and to everyone that wanted price qoutes on OEM parts, I should be getting that info back pretty soon so I will send out some PMs when I find out. :)

blown_mr2
Hmmmm, I was just checking out the hub applications on Momo's site, and I guess I don't have the proper hub for a 91 MR2. I'm guessing that's why there's nowhere on my hub to plug in the horn wire.

Fcuk it.

Rob: Here's the million dollar question. Can you handle an Eibach Sportlines and Koni Yellows install on my deuce? Hopefully the parts are in soon. Let me know if it's within your reach and what it would cost me. If you can't handle it, please be straight up and let me know, I'd rather not have my ride used as a guinea pig!! LOL

Thank you my friend.

stealth
he did his own, its pretty simple.

Ahhh you've gone with a very nice setup. It sounds familar  Ya I can definately do the suspension on your car no problem. It will probably take a few hours so be prepared to forfit your duece for the better part of a day... Don't worry it is worth it in the end, your car will look slammed!:D I've installed suspension components on all types of cars so I'm quite familiar with it.

The only odd-ball thing about the suspension is that the strut cartridges are oil-loaded. It makes one hell of a mess when you open them up and its quite time consuming when you have to reload the oil with the new koni's. That's really the worst part of the whole ordeal. It will probably take about 5-6 hours knowing how bitchy MR2s always are and rushing things only lead to problems... If $120 sounds good, let me know when you would want to get it done. Im busy all this week with getting my car prepped for SCN but after saturday I am available :)

blown_mr2
$120 sounds great. It also sounds like you know what you're doing!!

Ok, once the parts come in ( I've been told after SCN too, but we'll see how that goes ), we'll set it up for a Saturday - only day I can really do it with work and what not.

I'll PM you my celly and I can get your addy and what not when the parts come in.

........maybe I should do the 94 tail light conversion at the same time. Hmmm.....:D

RDS Celica
I like to think I know what I'm doing... Alot of people agree with me so thats always a bonus :D  But seriously, you are in good hands :)

Everything sounds good to me. You just let me know when your parts arrive. Oh, and if you do want some 94's just give me 2 days notice :) no pressure hehe

RDS Celica
PMs have been sent for those who wanted MKI parts :)

Redlyne_mr2

Wow $400 to have a clutch installed on an sw is cheap.

Rob one question I forgot to ask you at the show. Do you have cruise? If so where did you put your cruise control handle when you mounted your momo wheel? I want to get an aftermarket wheel but I need somwhere to put my cruise
thanks

I have a Momo Millenium Evo, and it in NO WAY interferes with your cruise. Now the horn, that's another matter!! :D

RDS Celica
eeebowlahhh : 400 bucks is CHEAP for a clutch job. Toyota charges about $500+ just to give you an idea. To be honest, I wouldn't even want to do a clutch on an sw20 for much less than $400 myself... It is quite an involved process!

Ryan : I didnt have to modify anything on my steering wheel. The cruise control lever is attached to a part of the steering column and not to the OEM wheel or hub. It should be pretty straight forward to put on :D
