Crescent Street is the place to go for nightlife. Mega bars on that street and the ones adjacent to it(either side of St. Catherines) It is the more "Anglo" area.
If you head down St. Catherines a bit there is St. Laurent & then St. Denis. St. Laurent is a "trendy" area and St. Denis is more of a "French" area but they will have no problem taking your money and there are some great cafe's and bars along both.
If you don't feel like walking there is a good subway system that will get you around. Don't forget in Quebec the pedestrian does NOT have the right of way!
Nightlife in Montreal is the best...
Old Montreal is well worth checking out in the afternoons. |

St. Catherine Street.
If you're into dance clubs, check out "The Dome".
If you're into strip clubs, definitely check out "The Super Sex Club". Probably the best club on the strip. Trust me, I've visited them all...
There is also a side street of st. catherine that has all kinds of pubs. Can't remember the street name.
There is also a shopping mall but I can't recall the name.
Oh, go to the casino.
Hmmmm, try a montreal smoked meat sandwhich. |

| Montreal has a six flags amusement park which kicks ass compared to Disneyland. "La Ronde" is located on an island just south of Montreal. St. Catherines looks pretty lively too. I ate at a 75 year old famous deli called "Swartz" but the smoked meat couldn't hold a candle to Alberta Beef or Calgary's Chicago Chop Shop. Interestingly the police here in Montreal seem friendlier and talk with ppl rather than write tickets. And the pedestrians DO have the right of way. I've crossed on red 26 times already! Any other cool places to check out? |

Any other cool places to check out? I'm afraid my wallet will be much lighter if I venture into a peeler club! But I might have to take one for the team and check it out! LOL :p I ate at a 75 year old famous deli called "Swartz" but the smoked meat couldn't hold a candle to Alberta Beef or Calgary's Chicago Chop Shop. Take that Whyte ave!
If you like baseball you can still catch the Expo's if they are in town while you are there. I took the train to the "O" and got the best seats in the place from a scalper for dirt cheap. Just walk away from them if they try to stick you with the face value...
I have seen Montreal cops have a conversation with people on the street holding beer in their hands and it was all cool...and pedestrians do not have the right of way in Quebec. What happens is that they do not enforce jaywalking like they do here. Whenever a critical mass of pedestrians decides to cross, they do. Don't for a second think that will save your ass if you try to step in front of traffic on a busy street tho...have fun, Montreal is a great place to visit! |
