what do all of you guys think of it personally? pros, cons?

LowTEC
I always love the Maxima, since its 2nd gen. Luxury with decent power, yet quiet and comfort. Although it has one of the ugliest rear end on this planet (SE with darken tail lights does look acceptable), I think I can stand it :D . Oh, forgot which year they started to have independent rear suspension, but the 02 model has that 3.5 V6, VERY powerful for a mid size sedan, even against some so-called sports cars! It's the best bang for the buck in its class, you won't regret it.

I liked Maxima since I bought my first car, its so fast and powerful, I would choose the Manual transmission if I could, so much more power.

:D

The new Maxima is amazing! I've driven many of them and have enjoyed each.

If I were to buy the new one, I'd take a blue SE with the 6 speed. The manual seems to have more get up and go, than does the automatic. If I'm not mistaken it has 250hp on that 3.5 V6, and dont forget the heated seats and steering wheel... excelent in the winter. The sports suspension and the bridgestone potenza tires... I also think it has a factory bose stereo, in any case it pounds pretty good... the power windows, seats, and sunroof... and of course HID lights and foglights even though you'd probably never need them....

In my opinion, if I had that kind of money I'd buy one... excellent value for the money, the next best is the Acura TL-S, then Infiniti G35, then the BMW's.... You have to consider the bang for your buck.

You wanna talka bout bang for your buck, look at the New Altima V6...

Armed with one of those, you aren't even scared of a WRX!. More room that the current market Maxima, cheaper, faster, bigger interior...

Figure that one out...

Different markets I believe Terry...

just take a look at the M45 and the Q45...
For most people on this board... the M45 would probably be the choice... you (pretty much) have a Q45 drivetrain in a smaller car (not that the M45 is small, but smaller then the Q45)?...
(Also note, that the Inifiti/Nissan place by the hospital has an M45 to look at... dang man it's sweet!!!! )

Notice these two pictures from Infiniti...
...
yum, young people... / reference to muscle car...

business older fellow... important person...

marketing yeah?
I figure Altima for young people too, and Maxima for older people as well...

BlueTurboEGG
That, or they're poised to make the Maxima a super kick ass class car...

M45 is niiiiiice.....

Maybe it does, at least at Westend Nissan, they won't budge on teh price of the Altima 3.5, but they will on the Maxima SE then they're almost the same price :) I think I'd rather have a little bigger car for nearly the same price. A bit more convienient. Performance is great, but they're still "family" cars... Buy the 350z if you want performance....

Yeah, well, let's face it, I'm an old guy caught in a transition, so thank god for companies like Nissan who still make ass woopin' stuff like the V6 Altima.

We can purchase one under the guise of It's got bigger brakes and traction control devices to help you out of a tough situation... plus the 24ohp on tap...

True enough.
