hey there, i dont know very much about my 2 yet.. :(, but i just got it thursday what should i replace right off that start.

is the 91 octane fine with ths jdm 3s-gte? do you know.

and do you know where i can get a new or used clutch, mine is sliping very bad and need one asap. plz lemme know.

I don't see why 91 octane would not be okay for your JDM 3S-GTE. I sure wouldn't go with anything less.

PM Rob ( RDSCelica ) and pick his brains. The kid lives and breathes SW20's. He's doing my suspension this weekend.

Also check out and register at this forum.

Sorry, I couldn't be of more help. But, I'm pretty new to MR2's myself.

ahhh my reputation preceeds me hahah :D

As far as 91 octane goes....

The JDM ECUs are designed to run on 94 octane since thats what is widely used in Japan. From what I understand they have slightly more aggressive ignition and timing curves compared to that of the US/CAN ECUs. I was toying with the idea of buying a JDM ecu for my car since some people have had gains of 10whp just by switching ECUs. However, I never did go through with it since we dont have 94 octane here yet (but yet they do in calgary:confused: ).

Honestly, I dont really think you are going to do any damage running 91 octane... If anything the ECU will just retard the engine and you just wont be able to make use of the "perks" that the JDM ecu has to offer. Try throwing in an octane boost or something and see if you can tell any difference.

Clutch-wise, it all really depends on what power goals you have for your car. I just installed a SPEC stage 3 6-puck on my car but I already have a somewhat agressive setup and plan to only go further once I blow my engine (hopefully later than sooner :) ). If you are looking to get about 300whp or less then I can hook you up with a brand new ACT stage II (Im pretty sure its stage II anyways) for a very very reasonable price :D

If you are looking to go bigger, I would highly recommend a SPEC unit... However, get ready to spend about 600 bucks...

BTW you have a perfect mr2! What year is it if you dont mind me asking? I also noticed the skyline and possible s13 in your garage.... VERY NICE

well as of right now, i would like something a little better then stock, the plan is to build it up over the winter and who know whats going to happen there. i was looking at a exedy clutch from aimco clutch co. in LA, but dont trust ordering parts over the net :(

as for the fuel, i think i will try a octane booster... didnt think it would be a great idea at first... but i can try i guess. :)
(also fort mcmurray has 94 aswell)

as for the skyline, it went back to ft mac with my friend scott, and it's a 93 240sx sitting in the garage.

but i am looking for a clutch asap... at the right price so gimme a price and i'll let you know.

eeebowlahhh
or even a clutch+install price... :dunno: :fingersx:

one more question, the MR2 logo in the rear lights up blue... does it do that aswell with the models here?

^^^ Done.

We really need a larger PM capacity on these forums though.

eeebowlahhh : That clutch is an ACT stage II and I will sell it for the low price of 400 bucks cash if you are interested. It is brand new in the box and they usually sell for around 5bills or more. JP (Turbo MR2) has this same clutch in his car and he can probably tell you what he paid... if he wants to anyways :)

As for clutch install, Im sorry dude but to be honest it would be even more of a hassle for me to do it since you also have the entire stock exhaust system and the rest of your car is bone stock... that makes it even more interesting;) For the amount of time it would take me and the amount of money I would want to do it, you would probably be better off even getting it done at Toyota for 500 bucks... I thought you had a qoute for 400 from somewhere else? I would snatch that up :D

If you want that clutch let me know. I can meet you in the city if you want since I live in SP. drop me a PM and ill give you my number.
