WTB 1998 240sx - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a friend that is looking for a 1998 240sx. I don't really know if he cares about power windows or things like that, but I know he wants it to be a manual transmission. He has been looking around for one since his older 240 went in smoke from a turbo project.

Yeah, I have been told that it's made in a limited amount.

DomesticDrifter
yeah limited amounts were sold, it wasn't the most popular car in canada finding one is going to be next to impossible the guys that have those cars currently are holding on to them. good luck in your search, try bc or ontario you might find one there, if not import from the states.

What did they go for new? Mid thirties or something? Gee I wonder why they never set any sales records. Too bad really.

I belive the were low to mid thirties. they were cheaper in europe and australia. part of the increased price in north america was the fact they had to modify the assembly line to put that shit ass ka24de in the car instead of the sr20det. to bad. good luck in your search.

anyone know why they couldnt have sr20det stock in northamerican s14s? or s13 for that matter.... government restrictions or what?

socalsupra
i guess they only wanted the 300ZX to be turbocharged, the 240 is more economical its like the middle class:dunno:

A multitude of reasons. Americans tend to favour larger displacement n/a engines as opposed to small displacement turbocharged engines. Also Nissan didnt want to bring in a car that would take away sales from its North American flagship car; the 300zx. A SR powered 240sx would be ~.5 the price of a 300zx; but have near the same preformance potential.

nissan also didn't want to spend the money to get the engine emissions tested for north america because the black top sr20det didn't meet emission laws in california in the late 1990's. cali would have been one of their largest markets and they didn't see it suitable to bring a car to north america that wouldn't sell in one of their largest markets.
