Beater Noises - Click HERE for Original Thread

So i drive a car....not exactly a beater....it's actually a ...well....a car anyhow. So I was driving today, first thing in the morning, and had the heat on, when this LOUD buzzing sort of noise shoots off! FREAKS me out! Not sure if it's the fan or something like that. I turn off my car, and turn it on again and it's gone, for the rest of the day. Anyonw know what it is and whether that's really bad?

where did it sound like that sound was coming from? inside the car, or in the engine? Sounds to me like the heater fan was just being funky, maybe rubing on something.

My car does that when its cold. Everytime. Once it warms up, no noises. Could be a belt or fan.

depends on what kind of car you have but i know with mine the heater sometimes comes on then shuts off for a second and makes a noise like the one you describe, it doesnt happen that often but when it does its annoying, sound like it could be your fan that would probably be the first thing to check also it may be coming from your engine but if it was i doubt you could hear it that well from inside your car, if it was a belt i'd think it would be more of a squeeling sound then a buzzing but who knows. First id check the fan though before it gets too cold outside

well..i drive a 96 7 series BMW...and i thought it was the fan...but im not sure. someone said the fan might just need tightening, someone else said it mught be the powersteering fluid. i COULD take it in to get fixed...but i'm kinda strapped for cash right now.

well if you can put up with the noise then just turn up your system untill you can afford it :fingersx:
