What's your take on JDM SW20's becoming legal for import within months?
You can literally import a turbo for under 9 G's.

I thought as MR2 fans you guys would be the happiest? It totally devalues the other MKII's, but oh well...
Anyone drive a RHD car? SUCKS! Seriously. Someone will litteraly die on a left hand turn.
And on the highways? DAMN! Forget passing. Right turns are easy and fun though! (Wow, big deal).
And good luck trying to sell a RHD car :) So, basically I can't wait (I drove RHD for a while, too much fun in a RHD country, not so fun here).

No, it's not. Ask any SW20 owner (maybe you're the exception), here what was a big factor in them purchasing a 2. I can almost guarantee we would all say one reason was because they are so rare, which only added to the appeal of owning a 2.

A few would be nice, but not a shitload. I'm a huge MR2 fan, that's another reason I bought one. There's a mystique about the deuces, I don't want that lost with an MR2 on every block. |

well i've had mine for about 2 weeks now and i just love it... and im sure i'll love it more when i can see what it really can do with the new clutch in... :)
but like anyone else... i dont want to see the mr2 become like a common car around here, i live in st albert and float around the west end and not to often see a 2, few and far in between.. dont think it should be like a honda or nissan... there every where.. and then they just dont become as if theres one on every corner.. and not have the hand full that there is.

Well said Sunil... I'am happy for anyone who has the pleasure to own a deuce.... but with more and more showing up on the road especially now that JDM MR2's will be soon legal for under 10G doesn't sit to well with me.. ... like it or not there is a very good possibility of an MR2 invasion..
The only thing that we can do is accept it...
The only thing i'm dreading is resorting to putting excess stickers, louder exhaust,more neon lights .....just to be different haha :eek:

Japan in 1990 19,258 MKII's s we're sold....
in North America 17,606
in total in Japan btw 1990-1999 => 66,761
1999 selling the lowest at 342 MKII's that year...
in total in North America btw 1990-1995 => 33,311
1995 selling the lowest at only 93 MKII's...
minus all the salvaged MR2's...... statistics show that the MKII is still pretty rare in comparison to Cavalier's, sunfires, civics...
so wesam i don't think you have too much to be worried about..hopefully

A 1950 BD Deluxe is rare.
A modern car cannot/will not be 'rare'. Being an older (14-15+ years old), expect to see MANY more MR2's now for many reasons.
1) Well preserved, people really love/look after them.
2) Value. They resale at insane rates.
3) Profit. If they hold their resale, people look to buy/sell them for profit (ie, I can buy this car now for 10K, drive it for 3 years and sell it for 10K, is a real profit).
4) All the other pluses that we know of (reliable/speed/looks etc).
Just not a big fan of RHD on LHD roads! :) I can see all the ricers moving from their cheapo civics to MR2's (if they were smart) when they get a bit more money.
