I got a ticket for 65 in a 50 and I want to try to change it to a registered owners ticket. This is my first ticket and I wanna stay clean. Most of the time I dont speed but those dang unposted 50 zones suck :( I dont care about the fine I just dont want any demerits or insureance bs cause Im almost 19 and am gonna have to pay my own insureance soon. I dont want to screw it up so can someone please explain exactly what I should do. I dont want to just call up someone and say can you change it please? THX alot to all who respond.

And that's something you'll have to talk to the prosecutor for.... usually that type of ticket is issued where they can't prove who was driving the car.... |

| It was on 107 ave 97ish street by the lucky 97 store. I left the light and a stupid civic pulled halfway into the lane saw me coming a desided to stop :blink: I floored it cause I wouldnt have enough room to stop and quicky signaled and changed lanes. He put on his lights and pulled me over. He asked me how fast I was going and I said I didnt know. Anyways he gave me the ticket and also told me my exhuast was "broken" and I needed to fix it (its a 2.5" mandrel bent system with a flowtech muffler its abit loud for me but sounds nice when opened up) . I didnt have proof of insureance (I took it out the other day while cleaning the car DOH!) all I had was an old pink card. He was really nice about it and told me I had 24 hours to provide it and let me go. I had the proof to the station in 20 minutes after . I didnt want to get stuck with a HUGE fine so I called and left a message with another cop to call me to confirm all was in order and I could stop sweating. I needed to use the phone awhile so later I called back and the cop who took my message threatened to tear it up if I called again (prick) . Anyways it was all in order and I dont mind paying the fine and I try and watch my speed and for anymore civics setting themselves up to get run into (f*ck I hate it when ppl stop halfway in the road like that) I just dont wanna have crazy insurance. Thanks redbaron. I was alone in the car and he never lost site of me. |

if it's yer first ticket, don't worry about insurance d00d...
i got one way worse and i havn't seen an increase...
just make sure you've learnt yer lesson, and move on... and don't get anouther one :P |

Mustards right.... I have two tickets, and at 20 (a couple months after I turned) they weren't exactly brilliant tickets to get. I had them both reduced by talking to the prosecutor.
Typically the worst he'll do is make the ticket you have stick, if you go talk to him maybe he'll do something nice for you.... Don't lie to him though, they can usually see through a charade like that.
15km/h over the speed limit isn't that much either like $80 and 2 demerits or some bs like that? I wouldn't sweat it too much, but then again I've had insurance for a few years now.... |

Normally, I would tell you that you deserve the ticket, grow up, and pay it.
However, I don't think it was your fault this time. Most likely rush hour, need to get over to other lane because people are parking in yours.
What I don't get, is what kind of car do you have that can do 65KM/H in a matter of 60 feet (can't be more than that from one end of the intersection to the other) or less?
And just so you know - it is 50KM/H UNLESS YOU SEE A SIGN. It's not "unposted" - it's the rule.. |

I know this area pretty well I'm pretty sure its posted around there, maybe back by the ukrainian center or something. i used to think it was 60 too, but I know its posted back past 111'th because I've gotten a photo radar ticket from there and went back and checked. :(
Since this is your first ticket (and its only 2 points) it shouldn't affect your insurance rates. :bthumbup: |

The civic pulled halfway into the lane from the parking lot and stopped. The parking lot has a entrance right after the light and then about another intersections length down is another, the second one is were the honda was. I drive a 83 toyota supra and 60 is near the top of first gear its pretty easy to get to that at the end of an intersection. Thank you all again for your posts and support. |

| Well I headed down to the courts today to see if I could transfer it and pay the fine and I talked to the justice of the peace, she took my ticket then a few minutes later told me they never recieved the ticket for the police so the ticket is all taken care of unless they reticket me. :blue: I felt like jumping up and down but I just smiled and said have a nice day. Thank you all for your help. :lol: yay! |
