Since I FINALLY got my first car, i started just sorta looking at car mods. Simple cosmetic things even. GOD IS EVERYTHING EXPENSIVE! This is definately the hobby for the rich kid. Shit man....I could BARELY afford the car, it's put me in debt along with all the usual, and there's still people out there suping up their cars, and then CRASHING them, then just buying NEW CARS? OH MY GOD!! TELL ME WHERE YOUR GOLD MINE IS! *HAHAHAHHA*

It takes time. I've been trying to work on my car for like a year now and I don't even have an interior! Nevermind whats under my hood cause there's actually nothin! I should find myself a rich girl. Haha!

yeah i must agree it definately takes some time. i've worked long and hard just to get a few "cosmetic" things for my car.. engine modifications is a whole other story, can't afford anything! i have no money left :(

i wouldn't really say its a hobby for "the rich kid".... it takes time to do up a nice car.

If you keep your eyes open, there are always deals.

Used parts is something I usually do. Havn't had problems with my turbo kit, and its used

:fingersx:

Time is needed, but when you do have the time and money make sure whatever it is that you get done is done right. It'll save you problems in the long run.

Scintillater: what kind of car did you buy and does it run well???

I bought my first car almost a year ago and have only driven it for a total of 5 very problematic months. The worst thing for me is that I had my car checked by a "certified" mechanic at the dealer, who claim that the problems are my fault, but reall... Be lucky your car runs well and that you're even looking for cosmetics with the money you have. I have to take out a loan next year to redoo all of my car if I want to drive, or else I don't drive and then I don't work, then I don't have any money... Unfortunatly I need more than they'll give me. In total parts = engine, clutch, suspension, brakes, exhaust, new gauges, tires (have mixed matched treads now), and the list goes on.

Goodluck on your mods guys

its hard but depending on what car you have there is a few free things you could do if you want. if your car has torsion bars you can lower the front at least 1.5 inchs depending on what you drive. Also there is weight reducing which really doesnt cost anything, a MSD coil in older cars does make a noticable difference and you can pick up a blaster SS for around $65. MSD or Mallory hyfire ignition for around $200 and again in older cars it will make a difference. The only thing i can tell you if dont blow your money on the little stuff, this summer i spent around $4000 on my car and i dont know where it really all went. Save up your money

Damn straight.... save for what will benefit you and the car most :)

Christ, I've been working on my car for 6 years just to get it running right and looking HALF decent, now I want to redo the paint again.

You go into debt, or you stop eating/going out.

Scintillater
well..i think i'm lucky...but only time will tell. I decided to wait til spring to really do anything. just keeping it clean and running for now. I've already got ppl saying "so.l..what kit you gonna get? rims? etc"

and i'm like...you wnana pay for it? I gotta pay rent and food man! *hahahha*

i was just getting some ideas. I'm not HURTING to do anything to it just yet. I can be patient. let's see if the car runs well over the winter to even see if it's worth putting anything in.

BlueTurboEGG
Geez, and here I thought you didn't want to be "just like us" :)

Clem
be thankful you're not trying to mod a Euro car

BlueTurboEGG
Or a car with llittle or no aftermarket support!
