well theres a guy in calgary selling a turbo set up for my datsun 510 which includes intake/exhaust monifolds, front mount/top mount intercoolers, carb, garrett turbo out of a daytona, and a stok bov of the daytona plus a oil filter relocation kit and a test pipe. the think is though i bought dual carb and they look awesome but this turbo would be a couple steps forward in the performance catagory but i dont know what to choose. what would be some pros and cons to either types of these set ups? oh and by the way the guy wants 400$ for the turbo set up

Wow, $400 for that setup seems cheap.
I don't claim to be knowledgeable in either setup, BUT, after driving a turbo charged car for the last 4 months, I would definitley say TURBO. The rush is unmatched and the tuning capabilities seem endless. |

| So long as the system is in good working order I would say jump on it and build yourself a second engine sometime down the road. At least give the dual carb setup a try before you go messing with the boost. NA in a car that light should feel amazing! |

Is the carb he's providing meant for a blow-through application?
And do you have someone who knows how to tune those carbs with forced induction? |

| i was told they can be dyno tuned after the car is running at apex if that what u mean trevor? matt you have a good point. anyways if the set up is clean and looks proper cause it is a home made turbo set up im gonna go ahead and buy it. is there any other costs or materials i needs other then what i listed above in the oringal post? |

Well, you can dyno tune it - provided the people dyno tuning know about carb/carb adjustment.
You end up playing with jets, rods, hangers, etc.... (If the carb is not computer controlled, which from the sounds of the setup, it isn't). You'll need spare parts to swap in/out (Isn't a problem if the carb is readily available)...
Tuning a carb for mileage/performance/driveability isn't something that everyone can do. Make sure the shop you take it to can. |

| these type of carbs are not readily availabe so swapping parts is out of the questions i geuss. if u mean jets that i can get my hands on and a carb rebilt kit but hanger and what not i cant. |

You'll have to find out how to adjust the fuel mixture on the carb - for instance on my carbs I have:
Idle Mixture screws
Primary Jets
Secondary Jets
Secondary Rods
Secondary Hanger
Just to name a few. If I put a turbo charger/supercharger on top, I'd have to change those out to tune the carb. Maybe your carb doesn't have all of that, maybe it does. But you really need to make sure you get a guy who can tune it.
It's not like a Talon, you can't just plug an AFC in, toss in bigger injectors and have fun. |

I don't know what car/carb you're running, but you're going to either want to go to:
1) Someone who specializes in those cars/carbs
2) Someone who specializes in carb's period
#1 is the obvious choice, with #2 being the second choice. I can't help you with #1 (Since I don't know what you have), but if you can't find anyone for that I might be able to give you some help with #2. |

Sounds like you might want to find someone who specializes in them before moving to #2 - and I have no idea who would.
You could start by talking to some of the older guys, like Magoo who is always out at the track, who used to fix all sorts of carbs. |
