Ok here goes again.
I have had this problem since i have bought the car about a yr ago.
it a 240sx.
My headlights flip up and the lights come on fine.
but they do not go back down (without manually turning them down from the headlight motors).
I have tried the following:
1. Check Fuses
2. replaced the interior switch.
3. check all relays regarding lights (all fine)
4. replaced driver side headlight motor.
and still they dont go down.
Please help. any info would help.
thanks

My post will be based on my problems fixing popups on Talon's.
There should be some wires (I believe I had three) going to the popup motor. Can you apply 12V to these wires (One at a time if you don't have a wiring diagram) when the light is up to get it to go down? If so, then it's a wiring issue.
If it doesn't go down - have you checked the condition of the arm? On mine, there was an arm, with plastic ends (Which of course wear out) and it would often "slip" and not go down. I just had to replace these little arms, and it worked right away. |

do they make any funny sounds going up? like grinding?
if not, it just sounds like the little motor isnt turning in reverse.. which would lead me to think its a relay or wiring problem.
you sure somethings not grounding somewhere else?

i was told that the my motor wasnt running in reverse so i got a salvage motor that worked and still nothing.

no im not sure because i dont know how to check.
also if the ground is fine which may result in a wiring problem how would i go about tracing the problem?
thanks alot |

I'd check for "Fusable Links" first off.. my car has them.. i dont know if your nissan does..
other than that finding a short would be kinda complicated.. finding the headlight wires, and tracing them around the car making sure the wire insulation hasnt worn off, etc..

| nice, i have a similar problem. my lights. they refuse to pop up or down, replaced the one motor that wasn't working for a while but now nothing has worked for over a month. i'll have to give a few of these things a try and see what happens. |

The retractor module is typically under the driver's dash.
Usually has the name right on it.
It could share the same housing as the DRL module.
It sends the signal to pop your lights up or down when you turn your lights on or off, flash to pass, etc.... |

| how do i see if that module is working correctly? |

Try to get a used one to substitute.
If that doesn't work then you have to check all the wiring.... |
