I'm not sure if this belongs here but i'll try anyway. I got in a minor accident in sept. 2002. No charges or claims were made at the time and the incident sort of disappeared from memory. Today i get a phone call from my insurance agent saying the lady in the other car is suing me. Is there a specific time frame to make these claims? ITs been 2 years...
Thanks for any help;

I believe it's two years...
Yesterday was September 2nd, so if you got hit in September then it's probably within the 2 year limit.
Some people who make claims wait the full length because they believe it will increase their chances of a successful claim against you (Forgetting info, 2 years of medical records, etc....).
Did you report the accident to the police so that there is something on file? |

Two years from the day of the collision. By the time it made it's way to you via the insurance company, she probably called it in for the end of August.
A further five years can go by until you settle...making it seven from the date for all the damages to add up. |

| As well, it can't go against your record until it's settled either. |

It's two years to the day, and an action is initiated by Statement Of Claim, which you must be personally served with within that time period.
What was the exact date of your accident? Oh, and don't answer your door. :P

The claim is most likely against the insurance company it sounds like - so he doesn't have to worry about answering the door or anything. |
