Ok, what I mean is... say you buy a Porshe, for $90000. Quarter mile time is what... 8 seconds? I'm just guessing here. Divide 90000 by 8.. thats 11250 divided again by 100 to make it small equals a performance value of : 112.5.
Ok, now say you buy an S13 240sx for $2000, drop an SR20 in there for another 6000, and add 2000 in mods. Thats 10000 in total. Now lets pretend you do 1/4 mile in about 12 seconds.
10000 divided by 12 divided by 100 = 8.3 is your performance value.
Obviously, smaller the number the better the value!
So whats your value?? :D :D
Hope you enjoyed my in depth study! :blue: |

not sure about the 8 second porsche maybe, 11/12.
but good thinking none the less man. |

| REFLUX |
sounds good but what about non-1/4 times??
I read about a Toyota Vitz in Japan...done up nicely, slow as crap in the 1/4 mile but plays with S15 Silvias on the track...does it have a low value of performance?

| If a stock porshe would do 8's.There would be alot more. They are 12's at best |

So by your logic...........
My old Mercury bobcat (many many years ago the first domestic sports compact car )..... ROFFFFLLL
Was worth 500 bucks...... 20 sec 1/4 mile on a good day... more like 30 secs.....
500 / 30 = 16.7
16.7 / 100 = 0.16
The performance value of the century!!!!
:D |

LOL!!!
You guys forgot to factor in the number of cylinders too. |

Got math?
The slower your car, the "better" the index. |

i think the math equation needs to be revised.
if that same 240sx ran 20 seconds: 10000/20/100 = 5.0 |

| LOL, its true I failed math 20.... , but you guys get the picture at least.... help me revise the equation... theres gotta be a way for it to make sense.:dunno: |

| Wow, I'd like to know where I can buy a Porshe for $90K that will do 8's. |

Here is an equation that should work.
Run 12.5's?: 1000/12.5 = 80
Did that car cost $100,000? = 100,000 / 80=1250
1250 = Performance value for acceleration. Lower is Better.
If you want to get funky you could DIVIDE that # by the # of G's your car holds on a skid pad to factor in handling characteristics.
1250 / .92 G's = 1358.69 Straight line and cornering prowess value. Lower is still better.
Wanna get kinky? Divide this # by slalom speed in MPH.
1358.69 / 65.2 = 20.83. There you have it.
These #'s I found for a 911 Turbo Porsche using a quick google search.
Now, lets run the Mule through the gauntlet.
1000/14.43: 69.3
$5000: 5000/69.3 = 72.15
72.15 = Performance Value for acceleration.
Skidpad G's:0.8
72.15 / 0.8 = 90.19
Slalom: 56 MPH
90.19/56 = 1.61
The Mule OWNZ you!
Keep in mind this is a VALUE calculator that only takes into account PERFORMANCE. As in all walks of life, you get what you pay for. I know I would trade the Mule straight across for a Porsche 911 Turbo. |

Ok.. I've just thought about this for about a minute and I think the problem is that the 'value' you get from a car according to it's 1/4 mile (or any other benchmark) isn't linear. A 19 second car isn't much better than a 20, but any drag racer will tell you that a 10 second car is much harder to make than a 11.
With that in mind, I think you need some better way to calculate 'value' For the 1/4, maybe something like:
((1/4 time) - (base performance value)) * (scale factor).
But I gotta think about it more. Just thought I'd throw this up in case it inspired someone else. |

The $$$$ above for the Porsche are USD by the way.
Let's run a 2G AWD DSM BRAND NEW through the gauntlet.
$22500 USD
15.4 Sec 1.4 Mile
0.86 Skidpad
63.6 MPH Slalom.
1000/15.4 = 64.935
22500/64.935=346.5
346.5/.86=402.91
402.91/63.6=6.335
6.335, not too shabby for the king of crankwalk.:blue: |

| I paid $2000 for my car with a $1000 worth of extra parts and I run 13.8. I win! Suck on that! |

I thought I heard that car was dead? In that case you don't win anything. lol |

| nm, I just double checked your "wrecker" thread and now noticed you bought a parts car and that car was going to the wreckers... sorry, I guess you are the winner. :D |

By the Jeff_Baker formula
2.45
by the ProDrag formula
65.57 accel
79 w/handling
1.29 w/slalom

my index for mine is 0.628.. is that good.. or bad? :dunno: I took these from stock R+T #'s, not taking into consideration.. the "mods"
I'd love to slalom and 1/4 mile this bitch though :D |
