Tough to pull out of gear when parked for a period of time?? - Click HERE for Original Thread

It's fine once I get it out of gear, smooth from 1-5, reverse is a lil sticky at times but that's normal. Could this be a lubrication deal with the linkage? I have a rear transaxle.

maybe linkage i had that problem for a while however, the problem has come back and its not linkage.

so i will tag onto this, if someone knows why my reverse is being annoyin sometimes and wont go in tell me .

but for you porche check linkage first then go from there. However most times if 1-5 are smooth then linkage is not a problem , correct me if i am wrong?

Is this by chance when you park on a slant at all? You could have pressure on the gear holding it in place. Try using your ebrake, if it's out of adjustment, adjust it.

thats how hondas are, my integra took a while to get into reverse, i would sometiems have to shift into sever gears, before going to R.

Yea Honda's are a pain in the ass when you are trying to get them into gear and out of it even sometimes. I find it is the worst after I bag the shit out of the car and then let it sit for awhile. Doesn't wanna go into any gear so I basically have to let the car heat up to normal temperatures and the oil starts to flow and then I have some play in the transmission again.

Yeah , my car actually shifts better when its alittle cold but thats just cause my synchros are going. good stuff that porch fixed his problem tho

po9rs4ch4e
i'd fix my e-brake but the idiot before me cut both the cables.. I'd like to know why :dunno: most likely a part seized in the stupid design of the porsche parking brake.. but why cut it?

I sometimes have the habbit of putting the car into any other gear and then into reverse because of the syncrhos to save the embarassment of grinding :p Also when I have the problem of the car not going into reverse, I throw it into first, move up an inch and then throw it back in reverse, and as mentioned I too only see this problem when parked on a slant, and it's happened to me on many cars.

Who da man!:dunno:

that'd be me

Reverse it not syncroed(sp?) Thats why it is hard to get it in some times. it is a stright cut gear as well, not helicol that is why it makes noise if you go fast in reverse. I never leave my car in gear when i park it, it can put alot of stress on you transmition shafts and berrings

Assuming your e-brake is fully functional ;)
