Ok does the Subaru Impreza 1999 RS and the Subaru Impreza WRX 2002 have the same engine cause i belive they do the 2.4L H4 if im wrong correct me tnx

Anonymoose
The RS has a NA 2.5L H4 making 165 hp and the WRX has a turbo'd 2.0L H4 making something like 224hp.

Mustard
one has a functional hood scoop, one has a blocked off one...

guess which one ;)

btw,
:google:

you can swap a jdm wrx sti engine of the same year into a 1999 2.5 rs, this is a swap smiliar to the sr20 swap into a 240. its about as complicated however slightly more expensive.

Altezza
Cause i want to get an impreza but i like the look of the RS so i might invest in the RS and just do a swap damn i hate changing my mind so much eh oh well tnx for the input guys

Putting a turbo on a N/A engine is nothing like having a strictly turbo engine.

This is true i want an engine that was built with a turbo on it stock and then upgrade later on

dmak_el
Yeah, it's true, but u can always built the na engine for turbo.
u get 0.5L more!! coz if u want to do that with the 2.0 turbo engine later it would still be lot of work. but it depend i guess, 2.0 turbo can still go really fast.

i was just thinking about puttin in the 2.0L itl be a little cheaper and the power will be close to the same now all i have to worry about is getting the engine tranny and a damn lift :P

Anonymoose
Every 2.5RS I've seen thats tried turboing has had major problems. Also, the NA 2.5 is not the same as the STi 2.5 without a turbo. They're completely different engines.

Anonymoose
Case in point:

and u might also need the real diff from a wrx since u r using the wrx tranny

can u tell me some of the problems?

and do u know 2.5 rs also comes with different engine in different years? i think there are 2 different ones. as far as i remember, one type of the 2.5 engine is easy to burn the head gasket.

do u know y i know? coz my best friend has a wrx....

the 2.5 sti engine is almost like the 2.0 in wrx, just 0.5 bigger, bigger turbo, injectors ect(also intercooler, almost forgot)....and has a valve control system....if i am not mixing it with the jdm sti......

and of cos, the na 2.5 is different that the sti 2.5. that's y i say "build it for turbo." if it's build and tune right, i don't see much problem.

my thinking is, since when u upgread the 2.0 wrx engine, u will need all those fuel supporting mod, clutch, and someting to control the ecu, why not just save the $ build the na engine for, put turbo kit in? and at the end, u have a 2.5 tubo.....but i guss a swap would be easier, but not sure if it's cheaper...

but i don't know about the tranny...probly wrx has a stronger one, so that would be better....

that's just how i think
