Shaving the car - Click HERE for Original Thread

Mekanik22
I'm shaving the door handles, body lines, side markers, antenna, and rear wiper on my 240. Anyways, I don't have a welder or a power grinder at my house to do this kind of work so what is a reliable body shop that can do this? Again money isn't an issue, but I would still like to see low prices. Thanks guys.

i'd reccomend leejay autobody or maaco.. prep work is prep work. that's where 90% of the guys take their pro drag and street class rods for a quick touch-up

if money is not an issue why not invest in the tools you need? btw i think its time for another update on the 240's progress with some more pics.

Shaving doors/etc... is all to do with skill and experience. If you heat up the metal too much you WILL warp it.

I wouldn't trust Maaco. Go to a place that's done it, many times.

You could try an old school shop like Shevy Surgeon - they do this on old cars all the time, by guys who've done this longer than you or I have been alive.

my car got smashed and Broadmoor autobody here in sherwood park did all the bodywork... it came out top notch, I definately recomend them, they did a really good job with the paint and lining up panels

You don't plan on racing at the track I take it?

Shaved door handles will get you flagged going through tech.

I know :( But oh well. It looks good.

Yeah, which sucks. Because what if they guy's door is locked? What if it's so battered they can't get it open anyway? They still have to smash a window..... That's what I don't understand.

To err on the side of safety isn't a bad thing.
If you race at the track with your doors locked, you have ISSUES.
If it is that battered, it is jaws of life time, not break the window time. The windows are already broken and you are in bad shape.

Roll cage, duct-tape checkered net, and take the doors right off! :p

DeathBy240
Dont do it. Trust me. My 240 has exactly what you just said all shaved. It looks slick but it sucks ass that I cant take it to the track. Dont do it!
