One Question, W.
Why would 200,000 be considered outrageous for a JDM car, I would think that 200,000 for that car would be run-of-the-mill mileage around here. Based on 20,000/year and it's 15 years model years old= (Oh shit, Helder is doing some math, run for cover!!!) 300,000. Could it be that maybe it is the driving habits of the market over there? I am just wondering about the difference, that's all. Your thoughts, Please.

200,000 japanese kilometers is A LOT compared to the same milage on a Canadian car.
In Japan, there is no such thing as "mostly highway miles."
If you want a nice SC - buy mine :) |

Hey Helder.
In Japan they have emissions laws. I believe once a car hits about 80, 000km's it is kinda considered "written off" as in to old, and no pass their laws. They try to increase vehicle purchases as they produced alot of cars.
Plus in Japan there is always stop and go traffic, which = mor wear on the engine.

I believe what happens is that cars are required to have their engines replaced at 60,000kms. Many cars get sold out of country at this point - or cut in half :) |

Great Wesam,
Thanks for explanation. That is some really stringent emission laws. Would you know if these engines/powertrains can be sold across the pond over here, or would they fall under the same rules as the complete car? This is all really new to me.
Thanks DJTwinTurbo as well.

These engines are in fact sold here. I myself have one:D Just got it last month, and am almost done the swap. I personally bought mine from www.JDMSource.ca, which was the cheapest, they gaurantee no more than 80, 000km's on the engine. Also there is another place called CustomAuto.ca which are both from calgary.
Hope that helps, Helder.
