PE Tuning. Talk to James.

If he can't get it, try pole position products and talk to Howard.

Yeah definately go to James at PE Tuning.

I'm looking to get one as well, as soon as I storage my car and sell my old cai intake I will be getting the type-s intake.

:D

What's so great about the type s intake? I know it has a different chamber or something, but does it produce a lot more power then the USDM stock intake? And does it sound any different? I currently have just an OEM intake with a k&n filter and the resonator removed and it sounds somewhat aftermarket.

my AEM CAI produced the same amount of power vs. a Type-S intake chamber when we dynoed my car vs. Darcy's car.

forgot to add....the reason why it makes so much power is because of the massive and well tuned air flow that this has. The incoming air is well routed and there is very little drag effects inside this chamber vs. lets say a pipe.....

also try here:

Picked one up and installed it last night. Nice thing about it is I got some good low end gains (as well as high end gains)........ where as the CAI gets sluggish in low end (so I have been told) and no need for Hydrolock worries.

Nice thing about the CAI is the sound though...... this one sounds like stock. Might take out the resonator eventually though.

If you want a deep tone, you can try a drop in K&N air filter. I dunno if they make one for this particular app, but you can try.

I have the filter, just needs a cleaning.

Just wondering if anyone who bought it had the springs that holds the air box to the air chamber come with the kit. Mine didn't and it is currently zip-tied.

Anyone know where to get these springs? They wrap around the fitting and hook together........ basically the Type-S version of #10 in the link below.

If you do choose to remove the resonator be sure to take off the passenger side reflective lens so you have access to the bolt located near the top of the resonator...if you don't do this removal's a bitch. But yeah, removing it definitely gives you a throatier sound, especially with a k&n filter and it also opens it up a bit more in the top end. I'd recommend doing it even for the sake of just removing a heap of useless plastic

I have the type-s with the K&N drop in filter. There is a definite change in sound, much more throatier than stock.

I didn't notice any HP gains on the butt dyno but I'm sure there were gains in the low end to mid range.

I have all the spring clamps. When I got mine from pole position products, it didn't come with it. I contacted Howard and he sent me one. I'm pretty sure it doesn't come with the extra spring clamp but contact whomever you bought it from and ask if they can send you an extra one. Just say it was missing...

How much did you guys pay for your type s intakes anyways? I'm looking into getting an intake in the near future and was debating between the AEM cold air and the AEM V2, but if the type s is just as good and a bit cheaper then i may get that.

kellyk75
I bought it from James @ PE Tuning. He had told me that it didn't come with it be4 I bought it. When I asked where I could get one, he wasn't sure:dunno: .

Maybe I will ask again. If not, I will phone Howard.

Thanx for the help.
