Sept 30th Drift Night Video - Click HERE for Original Thread

rage2
The video features a handful of AE86's, 2 JDM RHD Silvias, my 944 Turbo, and even a Toyota Cressida. The course was laid out by me, it was a bit on the technical side, with increasing radius corners for the first 4 turns, ending with a decreasing radius corner. By the end of the night, pretty much everyone nailed the course.

Thanks a bunch to 2003specv for doing all the camera work in such cold conditions!

Remember, only download the HD clips if your hardware can play it (2ghz or faster P4's).

And the best drifts of the night in no particular order:

Cueman
1280x720 HDTV Video (10.8MB)
640x360 SD Video (3.0MB)

sil_eighty
1280x720 HDTV Video (26.3MB)
640x360 SD Video (8.6MB)

rage2
1280x720 HDTV Video (17.9MB)
640x360 SD Video (5.4MB)

If I missed one of your good runs, I didn't get it on video, or it was unusable due to low light, sorry.

I am sooooo going to the next drift event next year...

You guys gotta get a group buy going for some cheapy drift rubber

ChromeDragon
Wtf was with the bump at the finish line?:dunno:

redbaron303
^^^ Ya, seems outta place.

However there is some great footage there :) Looks like you guys had a lot of fun!

rage2
Race City's facilities aren't exactly perfect. It's the best we can do.

You should see some of the potholes I gotta avoid when laying down the track. You can also see the edge of the track breaking apart near the first 3 turns... when anyone goes too close to the edge, chunks of asphalt gets thrown on the track.

SplineZ
looked like great fun.. cueman really had it down :)

James Z

Shimarisu
lookin awesome:bthumbup:

Yeah, it's too bad to have some potholes on the track...hope u guys would find better place to do ur drifting:bthumbup:

PS You're gettin better, Mark! Better save up money for the drift practice in Japan;)

rage2
Based on the video footage, Cueman lead the way with the most "proper" runs through the track. Mark and I tied for 2nd.

Marks runs looked the most impressive by a huge margin. More angle, and drifting up on the oval. I still fear the walls. Well my wallet does anyways haha.

sil_eighty
nice.....great job cueman, rage2 you guys looked great out there...............

Mekanik22
WTF. I dunno if it's just me, but they look more like slideshows rather then videos. I can't watch any of them. Well I can, but I don't want to because their so choppy....

redbaron303
They're in HD TV format.... very high resolution for extremely capable machines! My computer ran them fine but I think it's on the minimum level of being able to do so :P

rage2
Download the SD versions instead of the HD versions if it's choppy. If it's still choppy, you really need to upgrade :).

SplineZ
I want that camera so bad :)

Even tho my monitor doesnt do 1280, my xp1800+ is fast enough to scale it down, and play it.

If you REALLY want to make your machine chug, try playing some of those damn 1080p movies microsoft has.. holy shit.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/wi...ntshowcase.aspx

wmv is up to be a standard for the new HDDVD's... this is just a demonstration of what it will look like...

i want the camera that takes this video too :D

When I was at CES in Vegas, Microsoft demonstrated 1080p by projecting on a 250" screen. It was insane how clear it is at that size even up close.

If you wanna see how 1280x720 really looks, hook it up to a HD projector that can display 720p on a screen larger than 60 inches. It's like you're there!

We're gonna have our projector setup again next year at the Calgary VUB show, but this time around, we'll be displaying all of the HD footage that's been shot with my camera.

Hopefully the Bravo D3 WMVHD DVD player will be out by then so I don't have to lug around a big desktop to play the vids.

Nevermind him, he rode the short bus.

SketchifisT
i just love your car Rage2, i think u win from car ;) but otherwise that was dope to watch nice job

rage2
Thanks man. I dunno how long I'm gonna use the car for drifting... if I wanna get serious, I wanna get into something cheaper. It's a lot of fun in the 944 though that's for sure heh, just too scared to take any risks in that car.

SketchifisT
yeah no doubt, driftin is one of those things where havin the nicest car sometimes is not that good, well unless u are rich. Get something that is easy to fix , and has tons of used parts and you are golden ;)

i dont get this at all... thats not the mentallity in JAPAN, they have the nicest cars and use them to the full potential (im not even talkin about the pros, just the amatures) why is everyone scared to wreck their car???its just a car....it can be replaced, im not rich by anymeans........and if your scared about wreckin, theres no way your ever going to get better until u get over the fear.........it will happen just dont think about it. have fun, this is most important thing about excelling at drifting....

I just want to get into something that's cheaper to repair/replace. 944 parts aren't exactly cheap... if I get into something cheaper, smack a wall, I'll be back before the next event. If I smack the 944, gotta save up for parts! ;)

I'm not afraid of wrecking, I'm afraid of not being able to afford the repairs, hence getting into a cheaper car. As you can see, I don't trust my skills just yet. I'm still a newb hehe.

sil_eighty
get a silvia from japan then........cheap enough if u get it yourself:bthumbup:
