What to do with a broken laptop - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a Sony VAIO PCG-FX140 laptop (model #PCG-954A) that is not currently working at the moment. All I know is that it needs a new motherboard.

It's probably about 3 years old and has since had the hard drive upgraded (40G), floppy drive replaced, charging system replaced and has a new battery.

I'm not sure if it's worth anything, perhaps someone can replace the motherboard at a reasonable price or salvage it for parts.

Is this worth selling and if so what would it be worth?

if you could find a replacement board for it is probably your best bet, if you are selling it as is for parts it is worth about 50-100 dollars

We'll, I was quoted aprroximately $1100 for a new motherboard (installed) by Sony. That's just ridiculous since you could get a brand new laptop for not much more.

I have an adapter if you want to salvage the hard drive, you can pull it out and use it in a desktop.
Other than that, maybe ebay?Or find someone that needs a new screen, they usually run over$500 to replace, so someone may pay good $$ for that alone.

I'll take it if you want, lol.
