Getting something accomplished - Click HERE for Original Thread

oldraven
It's time for a new update, now that something's getting done.

I took the day off work yesterday to get something done on the truck. Working two hours a night doesn't get you anywhere. Though I'm stuck at work writing this on a saturday now.

Anyway, I got the frame cleaned up and undercoated,

& the cloth seat in for the old vinyl.

The bumper and lower splash apron have been removed from the parts truck, and the apron is painted in the right colour with chrome re-attached. Both are ready to go on, as soon as I line up the front fender mounting holes to stock location. The p.o. rear-ended someone plenty hard, and this stuff is all messed up, but nothing I can't straighten up enough for winter.

The 383 is painted and in, though the propane hasn't been installed yet, so I haven't fired it up.

The cab corners are bought and ready to be welded in, as soon as the inners are patched up. The steel is cut for the patch as well. Should be done soon.

And finally, I painted the front of the box, so when it goes together and gets painted, you won't be able to tell it's not original.

It was nice to have a day where you can see productivity. It's getting really close now. Starting to look like something.

maxpayne126
very nice

oldraven
Thanks man. :) I know it's a little out of the norm for this forum, but it's what I've been immersed in for about a month.

socalsupra
youve gotten alot accomplished in the past month, looking good man:bthumbup:

Mavrick
Lookin' good! Glad to see you got a bit of paint on those valve covers. It makes a big difference.

Wanna throw the G-tech in there when it's back together so that you can see what that 383 is putting out?

;)

Mav.

oldraven
Yeah, that would be awesome, but I think by the time I got to the full potential of the lump, the potential of the stock timex rear would be passed. So yeah, expect to see a freshely painted diff cover soon as well. :D

Mavrick
yes, replacing that rear before throwing the g-tech in there is probably a good idea. Everybody I know is afraid of my g-tech now, because it tends to make cars break when it is in them. hehehe.

If there is a weakness, the g-tech will find it.

sweet, now you just need a matching MULLET to go with the truck and the superman decal in the back window.

 Yeah, fuck you too.

ChromeDragon
I've got some Turbo 300zx power buckets that would look awesome in that truck! Alot more comfortable than the bench too!

oldraven
mmmmmmm buckets. I may take you up on that come spring. I've got to drive it across the country, and I'd like to do it without my arse falling asleep a dozen times a day. But that cloth seat is like heaven, compared to the old vinyl, even on the good side. No more freezing my balls off on cold winter mornings.

ChromeDragon
Hahaha, well I want these seats gone in the next couple weeks so you might be out of luck.:dunno:

BLK_LBL
I just said u need a mullet to match. mullets are cool, i never said that mullets suck. I just think a vehicle like that needs a 10/90 to finish her all off. and on top of the mullet must be a "LIKE A ROCK" or "THE HEARTBEAT" baseball cap. har har har har

Does your truck have a name?

Yeah, a really bad one. Clark. :D I named it when I bought it, but never actually use that name, because it's so incredibly corny.

But I usually just call him the Supatruck. (yes, it's a he. How could this be a she?)

And I'm sorry man, but mullet's are BAD! I lived through the 80's, (all of it) and I somehow managed to avoid the mullet. Unlike my two brothers. :D

As for the Heartbeat hats, I got my Chevy Duty catalogue last night, and the last five or six pages are of clocks, hats, t's, vanity plates, you name it. It horrifies me to see 'like a rock' decals, even being a bowtie guy.

Thanks man. :D I'll be working at the shop all night again tonight. I got the grille, splash apron, and light bezels back on last night, and the welding is all finished. I just need to bet the tanks mounted, the box on, and the front bumper on, then she's good to go home, where I'll get to work on the paint prep.

propane... grill.... box.... hmmmmm..... You're cooking for 3 now anyway.... so.... GIANT MOBILE BAR-B-Q!!!!

oldraven
Damn right. There's a valve to switch from wet to dry propane, so I can run my truck AND a barbecue off the same tank. :D How cool is that?

:blue:

oldraven
Like I said in my last post, I got the front of the box painted.

Klause finished the cab corners.

And I got most of the front end back together. I know the grille is crooked, I need to get some proper nuts and bolts to mount it. But you get the idea. :)
