Yeah I know it's sad and all, but why should his death affect me any more than the tens of thousands of others that die around the world every day?:dunno:

That page about him has a lot of bullshit. I'm not stickig up for Reeve, but the guy doesn't really have any good points. He started a foundation for research after he got injured, and this guy is blaming Reeve for that? At least he started something and is doing something with his life other than making webpages full of rants.

Believe it or not, nothing Maddox says is enlightened. He's a bitch. Funny sometimes, but mostly just a cynical complainer.

Superman's dead. That sucks. That's two Reeve's Supermen who died tragic deaths. Nothing funny about it. Am I the next? What, I'm a Reeves and I drive a Supertruck. That puts me in the running now.

Anyway, RIP Christopher and thanks for making a positive impact.

Micheal J Fox wasn't an advocate for Parkinsons before he got it.

Does that mean Micheal J Fox is an ass hole or a good guy using his fame to help make money for research to help the suffering.

If someone famous decides to use is influence to help others NO MATTER THE REASON I think it can only be good.

I think we all loss something when Reeves died!

Just because he wasn't an advocate of spinal injuries before he got it doesn't mean he was not a good guy before or after he got injured. Most of us aren't into donating our time/money/services to help non-profit associations to cure diseases etc. But I am sure if we had a very serious illness or a spinal injury we would be more interested in helping it not happen to other people and trying to find a cure.

At least after he got injured he still had a good outlook on life and tried to help others.

As for the Maddox site, that shit is funny! But comon, you gotta know that it is a comedy site, and the stuff written on it can be disrespectful, mean, and very obnoxious. That's why it's so funny! You can't take it to heart or anything.

R.I.P- Christopher Reeve
Thanks for trying to help everybody with spinal cord injuries.

The answer to this question is easy, I think alot of us who grew up knowing Christopher Reeve as Superman in away actual thought he was invincible. But it goes to show you that not everyone is and tragidy can strike at anytime to anyone of us.
Just 2 years after his riding accident he was able to move his right index finder and a few more years after that he was breathing on his own for 90min and running on a treadmill with help from his assistants keeping his legs in motion. To me that's a dramatic breakthrough and show me just how hard this man is trying to proove to all the doctors who told him he would never walk again.

It's a sad thought to think that what kind of progress would he have made in few years time, I think we would have all liked to see a full recovery but unfortunatley that will never happen.

Aswell I'm quite surprised that the cracking of jokes of Reeve is even in your thoughts. Is there anyone else you like to make fun of, people in wheelchairs, downs, parkingsons, or how about you make fun of everyone who isn't as perfect as you.

ChromeDragon
Well I think people get a little too sensitive about these things.

What I'm annoyed about is that people out there will stop donating to spinal cord injury research a few months down the road because they no longer have Reeve as a spokesperson.

One other thing I'm annoyed about is that his death was preventable. He has this team of doctors working on him day in and day out to help rehabilitate him, yet they can't detect a pressure wound that would eventually give him septicemia and kill him? Were they concentrating too much time on using his body as a tool for research to be concerned that he might be getting sick in other ways?

I'm far from an insensitive person, but I'm not going to sit here and say "my prayers are with his family," because they aren't and that would be hypocritical of me to say so. Yes I said an insensitive thing, but only because I knew what this thread was going to turn into.

So I'm sorry for making the crack.

Matt

You want to make a nice gesture? Stop giving him the wrong surname. It's Reeve people. George Reeves died in '59. Chirstopher Reeve died this week.

Pshh, no one's got that much kryptonite. I'll be burried with every vehicle I've ever owned. (a daunting task for my family to carry out, but hey, it's my dying wish. Either that or being laid out on cinder blocks in a junkyard. I am an organ doner, after all.)

KingsS13
I thought only kryptonite could kill Superman:D

naw j/k RIP Christopher
