Does the read speed really matter on a dvd drive? Like i mean if u are only watching like movies and stuff and not transferrind data over. Cuz... well i cant see how a faster dvd drive woule enhnace the playing of a dvd movie at all.

I don't see how you need to watch a movie twice as fast........

Well, for playing a movie all dvd drives go at 1x (unless they have some funky buffering going on). But you'd be happy to have 24x dvd drive if you wanted to rip the movie on your HD. It also helps when you're reading data (like Baldur's Gate II on DVD, or the MSDN libraries).
