I got goo gone, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything. There's a guy on a Chevy truck forum who said there's some kind of 'eraser' attachement for your grinder that won't harm paint. I'm going to try and find that.
Anyway, I got all the bondo finished last night. Amazing, I still didn't use the rest of the can I bought for the cab corners. :) And I bought two cans. I got the hood chrome off last night, and cleaned up under there. Four simple self tapping screws, but you wouldn't believe the bitch of a job it was getting them out. Felt like they were welded on. Got the cab all scuffed up and ready for spot putty, then primer and paint. I also taped off the window, door handle, and windshield on the passenger side.
Yup, it was a productive night. :D |

I got the passenger side primed last night, and the final layer of spot putty is waiting to be finished. So I primed the passenger side while I waited for the putty to dry. I'm going to try and finish sanding the drivers side, wash and wipe with tack cloth, and prime the other half tonight. Then it's paint tomorrow.

If it were true, I'd have a mullet. ..... I don't. Maybe if I'd bought the truck new, but when's the last time you saw a guy in his early 20's driving a pickup with a mullet?
The only reason this bugs me is I've spent a lot of time and money on this project. Worked hard on it myself. Too hard to keep getting the same old response of a terrible stereotype. I don't make comments about stickers and fart pipes every time someone posts about their import.
For those of you who've asked real questions and made reasonable comments, thanks for your input and intrest. For the rest of you........ well, I'm trying to stay away from those comments for a while.
As for the Lil' Red Express.... why have I not seen pics of this thing on here? (honestly man, I'd like to see it. Not a huge MOPAR guy, but they made some serious specialty machines) |

...I think you missed a BIG ASS DENT on the front pass side fender :dunno:
and you're getting all these mullet comments because that truck is a mulletwagon. its a regular cab 2wd LONGBOX truck thats sitting stock height with a STROKER ARRR AARRR AARRRR |
|
|
| oldraven |
No, I noticed that. Thanks though. :p That fender is crap, and there was only so much I could do to help it without a metal shaping kit. The good thing is, most of the damage will be covered by the chrome bumper. I did the best I dould with the spot above the fender arch. I think that part came out decent, considering how malformed the whole piece is. I'm getting a new fender and driver door this spring from Chevy duty. But for the winter, I'm slapping this thing together, and buffing out as much as I can with the time I've got. Pretty much, you should have seen it before.
It's a work truck being used as a winter beater. When the time comes to slam a C/K chevy, I'll be buying a '73 blazer and going from there. (fully convertable with a hardtop  ) Stock ride height and long wheel base is good for having a decent looking truck that's still workable. I don't want to loose its ability to 'pick up'.
And the stroker was a fluke. I bought it as an old 350 for the propane setup, but found out it was just built into a 383 for propane about 1-2K km ago. |
|
|
| BLK_LBL |
well your explanation is cool n stuff, but i was just pointing out the fact that yes, it IS a mulletwagon.
and a slammed 73 blazer would be TITS, the president of dropsicles has one he is currently finishing.

That's a beauty. I'd kill for something like that, as a second summer vehicle.
Well, if this is a mullet wagon, than every civic in existance is rice. :dunno: Same rules apply. Misconceptions and poor definitions. What can you do? Serves its purpose. I needed something to drive when the snow falls so I don't destroy my TC. I'm just doing the best I can with it what I've got. |

hmmm, a better response would have been:
"So when you license it and can I have your complimentary gun rack?"
Great work man!! |

See? All I'm looking for is unique replies. :D
Thanks man. I know this is no show stopper restoration. But if it means anything, this is the first time I've ever done any kind of work like this. When I did the TC, my cousin did the body work. This is my first attempt at body work beyond final sand. |

Hah, you know whats funny, im in my early 20's, i drive a redneck truck, and up until lately(if any you had seen me haha) i had a mullet complete with a handlebar mustache. I was the ultimate, white trash... Then i got a new job, and well yea smartened up haha..
As for my Ma MOPAR muscle truck, here ya go:

450HP+this truck=
having a mullet is not only a image, its a state of mind   |

| BLK_LBL |
| you gotta mask off the entire window, not just the edges  |
|
|
| oldraven |
I was waiting for someone to mention that. :P No worries. You'd be surprised how well dust works as a masking. ;) I have no worries. There's always razor blades and paint thinner, though I made sure it would come off before going on with the primer. Saves a lot of prep time. Something I don't have a lot of.
The end results are all the same. |

| Just watch all the mullet cracks turn to grovelling when someone needs help from someone else who ones a pick-em-up truck...When you own a truck everyone wants to be your friend. |
|
|
| oldraven |
| No doubt about that. The story was the same when it had a weak old 305 and rust holes. Now people just won't be so embarassed to have their couch moved with it. :D |

That color is smurftacular!
(sorry, couldn't find a pic of a redneck smurf) :( |
|
|
| oldraven |
You're right. It is the colour of smurf.
And I'd love to see what Redneck Smurf looks like. :D Kind of like papa smurf, but with a bell mouthed riffle in hand, and a wad of 'backy in his maw. |
