I believe in general...a higher CAD dollar is better for spending but worse for selling.
It's good for Canadians buying things but for others to buy Canadian goods (export) it isn't as good. |

| I'm torn because I like the dollar high so when I go on holidays it is cheaper to get US, but unfortunately it hurts the company I work for big time so my last bonus was less than half of the one before. So I would actually rather the CDN dollar be worthless so I can get bigger bonuses and then I can still afford to buy US. :D |

i thinm it's sweet, i'm sick of paying an extra 60% more for EVERYTHING, when the americans can get it so cheaply.
I'm pretty sure the average income is about the same between the 2 countries, so basically americans make the same we do but all their good cost them less, it's not fair!!
Plus this shuld make a huge difference for the Canadian hockey teams, for example edmonton's payroll last year was $30million US, about 45million Canadian last year. Now with the same budget(45mill) they have over $36 million US, that's an extra 6million dollars, wasup Petr? |

The increasing dollar hasn't changed the price of anything it is still inflated compaired to that of the united states. its cheaper to buy stuff from the states but you won't see our prices going down. it is predicted that by the end of the year the canadian dollar will be worth approx 90cents US because of the political unrest that todays election is causing. all the us markets are down. |

Hockey players are overpaid. Cap 'em at 100 grand a year and maybe us workin' folk could afford to go to a game or two. |

yup, we're not really going up, its the US dollar that is going down. Guess all that deficit is catching up to them. |

If you work for a living with a company that trades with the US you know the higher Canadian dollar is NOT a good thing.
But for any of you "tuners" who are retired and winter in Arizona, this is great! |

I think it kinda sucks.
I haven't seen the cost of any US made goods drop. My friends whose employers buisnesses revovles around exporting to the states are all afraid for their jobs.
So yes, I guess it's ok if your life revolves around ebay and buying car parts on the net.

it's good if you have a job that's not dependant on american importers for your salary.
you haven't seen the cost of goods drop yet, but if it lasts for a couple years than obviously the price WILL drop, it's a golden opportunity, if the big names won't drop prices, someone will begin importing from the states and selling at lower prices, so it's inevitable.
i guess you think a 35% discount on all car parts, is gay? :dunno: |
