How many of you out there actuly have moded cars beyond the point of bolting on a part. Such as fabriction work, internal engine work, custom paint, turbo/supercharger upgrades? And what have you done with your ride.
I have only bolt on parts such as:
Drop kit,
Wheels,
Exhaust
Intake kit
and
Audio products.
Who is the master of modification in edmonton? |

| Wow, that's a loaded question :p |

Certainly not me. :D
My T-bird's engine is bone stock. The exhaust was done before I bought it. The only mods I have made are adding a k&n drop in and putting some wide sticky rubber on it.
My Chevy, on the other hand, has completely custom internals. Of course, those were done before I bought the motor. Stroker crank from a 400, high compression pistons, but stock cam & heads. The exhaust is stock manifold with straight true duals, with muffler only. Being propane though, it still runs cleaner than gasoline cat back systems. |

Oh, I forgot that I painted my car myself, and did a custom two tone interior paint scheme to match the candy apple red and charcoal smoke metallic hood scoops.
I'm in the process as we speak of painting my truck ocean blue. |

Myself and chris built my turbo kit..down pipe, intake manifold, IC piping, exhaust, remote oil filter were all built from scratch.
swapped in a 2.4, built my own motor mounts among a few other things.
my car is a little beyond bolting on parts now...although I could buy some more bolt ons and stick them on...I perfer saving money and myself and chris doing it. |

My 86 Pontiac Fiero
Custom Front Bumper Mr2
Custom Side Skirts Dodge Noen
Custom Rear Bumper EK civic
Custom Hood with Light effects
Z34 Lumina Spoiler
Custom Flush Mount head lights
All Custom body work done myself, learned as i went. meny hours went in to every piece to make it work. this body kit if one of a kind there is nothing like it in the world.
Engine:
block 2.5L borad out to a 3L Less then 10 known in running condition
153 crank less then 5 known in running condition
resized SBC rods And pistons(flat top), high flow oil pump, Moli Rings. block shaved 1000th. Comp Cam camshaft lifters and push rods
head: shaved 4000Th Port and polished, ports matched, trible cut valves. upgraded valve springs. cold air intake and 3" straight pipe exhust, no cat, blue devil muffler
Most of the engine mods have never been tried in companation meny meny hours went in to R&D to make everything work together. with good help from a machinist everything works good
very few 3L's are known to the fiero world mine is one of 5 that have the 153 crank. the 153 crank is out of an out board boat motor. splines can help me explain everything (he always seems to)

i hope that it has enuff special one of a kind mods to be included in this topic

Wow DUDE!, that should only be done by a trained professional...
Lets see.. For me
Intake,
Header,
Full Catback system (replaced Cat with resonator at the same time)
Upgraded brakes,
Coil overs,
Strut and tie bars,
Lightwieght flywheel,
Upgraded clutch,
Hondata,
And I guess if we get to count stuff that makes no differance what so ever.
Guages, tail lights, headlights, guage bezel, main cluster guage faces, and did stereo work..
I had a complete turbo setup for the car but due to a slight mishalp with one of my rods the turbo kit was never installed on the car. It was sold shortly after. The kit was complete custom, TE04H turbo from a caravan, custom home made crimp bent charge and intake pipes, caravan BOV, custom built exhaust manifold. The turbo kit was built by cau0 on this board and it worked great on both his car and the civic its on now. If anyone is interested in custom fabrication of stuff you can check his website (www.c-zero.net)
Currently the car is getting some other things done to it but you guys can wait tell the spring to see that stuff. The stuff I am doing right now is more in the true custom mod catagory then anything attempted previously by myself.
Oh, guess what I installed my aftermarket wheels aswell. :p |

I hate to tell you this but I have done about 6 engine swaps so far, built engines using heads off of one car and blocks off another (D16z6 Head on a D15 Block, along with a multipoint fuel injection swap and changing that car from OBD0 to OBD1 so that is could run the Vtec head. I currently am letting the new engine mounts for my B18c1 that is going into my 93 civic cure so that they are propperly stiffened and don't fall apart when they are done.. I just thought that the fact you felt the need to put the fact you know how to take lug nuts off and put them back on was a little funny to me. But if you wana take it personally go ahead.. I don't care. Its the fucking internet give me break.
Oh, and the work done on my car.. is all done by me minus the ECU modifications. SO EAT ME. Mod for Mod, I have done a lot more work to my car, then you have to yours. |

but what ever floats your boat. it doesnt really matter to me that u swaped 6 engines.

I've worked on a RX-7 and therefore I'm a mechanical genius.
I do everything myself. Well, I should say Chad does everything for me, but every modification on my car with the exception of the exhaust since I can't weld worth shit was done by either me, Chad, or my dad.
But my car is so lightly modded, I don't think its even applicable. |
|

| It does seem to run pretty well for being nearly stock though. I have never worked on a RX7, and don't really plan to.. those engines scare me.. :) |

| Yes, spinning triangles of the death. But at least the engine is so tiny, there is a lot of room to swing a wrench in frustration. |

Matt how many rebuilds have u helped Chad do?
lol jk.
Ya his car is pretty reliable. |

| Chad's RX7 is a car I would buy just for the flames, especially now that he fixed the exhaust issues. Because now instead of just the little orange plume of flame it shoots a huge blue one out the back almost 10 inches long. Its actually for sale right now but I just spent a ton on the new engine so I can't afford it. |

All honda cars are basically the same, I am sure he could do it with no problem what so ever. And for a example of how well his system worked for the car we ended up using it in. The car was a 92-95 civic CX, a car that should be running high 16s to mid 17s. I think the fastest time that the car ran was a 15.3.
Many of you likely know Drastik's car, the Green riced out civic with the CF hood and Huge intercooler. That car ran mid 14s using a system also built by C-zero.net on a engine that is running stock internals, with big ass wheels on it and street rubber. That car is also a CX actually. |
|
|
| Xpnsve |
Cool.. ya, I always thought integras have a lot less room for a turbo than a civic
I definitely have to get a new front end or get some custom welding for the Intercooler |
|
|
| 95IntegraRS |
| The Green Civic ran a mid 14? The best I saw him run last year was a mid to low 15 (can't remember) and there was so much wheelhop the top spoiler on the back of his hatch almost ripped itself off. |
|
|
| Nightstalker |
| The best time that I have been there for was a 14.7 run, but I was told it ran something like a 14.3 I just was not there to see it. I am sure that Brent can make pretty much anything work, the manifolds are custom built for each application so there shouldn't be a problem with the amount of space. :fingersx: |

How did you find the Haltech to work with, I have heard the only shop here that carries it is SilverStone. Or is there other shops offering tech support and tunning with that system. |

I found the haltech to pretty good, I have worked with some other ems's and even though the e6k is older than dirt, it still shames alot of the newer ems's in terms of injector control, and outputs..
I bought mine directly from Australia, Silverstone never answers their phone...
As far as support, the online support for the e6k is huge..

Quite honestly I haven't really done anything to the Z other than repairs and replacement of worn parts. That's not to say I don't have mechanical skills though. Next year I'll be rehashing the whole rear suspension to repair the camber issues, installing a custom intercooler setup, fuel mods, etc. Nothing too crazy, if(when) the engine blows up I might pull it out and rebuild it or replace it.
As for other cars, I've done quite a bit of work. Engine swaps, transmissions, clutches, heads, rear ends, suspension, brakes, tons of custom work and fabbing. It drives me nuts not having anything at home to fab stuff up since I've always worked at shops that had all the equipment I needed. I plan on changing that over the next few years though as I'm slowly acquiring tools to help with fabbing.
Now all I need is a nice big 3 bay garage! |

Not to come off as a ass or anything but why did you chose the new eclipse. They seem a little overpriced plus they don't produce nearly the same amount of power as the previous cars. And I assume they are heavier aswell. Just wanted a new car perhalps ?
I am a huge fan of the look of the 2nd gen DSMs |

|
| 3gec |
I am a huge fan of the 2g as well. The reason I bought the 3g is 1. Warranty
2. I wanted a new car that no one else had
3. I had the money to buy it.
I also looked at the Tiburon, Celica and RSX. But no one at those dealerships wanted to talk to me seeing I was only 20 when I bought the car and they probably did not take me seriously. I like the styling of the car except for the ripples down the door. And I wish I had bought the v6 instead of i4. However once the warranty is done I will be turboing it so hopefully it will be a little quicker. I am even thinking I may sell it the end of next summer for something a lil nicer. Oh btw I got a decent deal on it. It only cost me 20g. And like anything if I had my time back I would have bought something different. First time buying a new car gotta make some mistakes:p |
