Buying parts online - Click HERE for Original Thread

If I were to buy some stuff for my car online and pay with my credit card, will I get todays exchange rate? Or is the only way to get up to the minute rate is by sending a money order?

Remember that when paying with a CC the CC company will charge you a percentage above what the current rate is as their fee, and build it into the conversion rate.

As well, I assume you've already considered the benefits of ordering with a CC (Certain ones will give you increased warranty, you have more of a guarentee if the parts don't come, etc...)...

Plus with a CC, you won't ever get the actual current rate. You will get whatever current rate the CC company is willing to give you. There's going to be some spread built-in, always. They won't pass up any possibilities to stick you a little more...........

just so you know, what to expect.

I just bought something with paypal on my CC.. (Mastercard)
2 days ago i got a rate of .797569852

so it's not up to date... but still pretty damned good, bettert hent he .64 i was getting this time last year.

Still, it all comes down to what you buy, i think
If the difference is +/- .02, on a large item that may be lots, while on a smaller one it might be a couple bucks... so just buy it anyways i say.

Meh, maybe I'll just buy from the dealership.

I want to buy some Nismo gear and after shipping and brokerage BS it's only like $20 cheaper than the dealership.

You get the end of business day rate. Which right now is really good!
