im trying to reset the ecu on my dads eagle vision...is it as simple as unplugging it or is there a trick?

Kirill
Unplug the negative terminal off your battery for 20 seconds, it should reset it.

Hold the brakes while its unplugged to drain power from the ECU.

I'd give it about 5 min. minimum myself, but the idea is right.

okay so maybe it isnt the ecu, thats jsut what my mechanic reccommended, the problem is....his fan doesnt turn off, its always running, and it wasnt such a problme until winter, now its just blower super cold air in. Anyone knwo how to fix it so they only go on once in a while?

Just a shot here...fan speed switch? :D

Your heater fan or the rad fan? If it is the rad fan you might reset it with the ECU but it will probably be the temp sensor connector.

The wire could be broken or the sensor is shot.

Post what you find out.

You sound like you're on the right track.

Just for a bit of explanation - most of the fan switches are grounded when the coolant reaches a certain temperature. And easy way to test this out is to disconnect the wire going into the fan switch.

Once disconnected, the wire is not grounded and the fan should not be spinning. If it is, it means the wire is being grounded (Example: It's pinched between two pieces of metal) elsewhere.
