I just did a quick search on AutoTrader for shits and giggles.
3000GTs sell for about $15000
Stealths sell for $4000-$9000
Why is this? :dunno: |

| I agree it doesn't make sence its the same thing for Talon's and Eclipces the Eclipces costs more used. Paying more for the Mitsu name? :dunno: |

All the Stealths would be out of the States. Mitsu wasn't in Canada when they were made. Lower numbers= higher resale value in MOST cases. |

| I think you have that backwards. Dodge made Stealths, Mitsu made 3000GT's. |
|
|
| baker_jeff |
| But is the power they put out the same? Same specs and all that? |

True but if you look at the vin plates on them they have DSM plates not Dodge plates. |

OOPS!!
They were BOTH made by Mitsu in Japan. Kinda like the old Nissan Quest/Mercury Villager (made in Nissan's plant in Tennesee). Different bits on the outside, same car underneath. Mind you, the 3000GTVR4 had the chin spoiler that would lower after a certain speed and the rear spoiler that would tilt at the same time to increase downforce. So not "quite" the same. Iacocca killed the Stealth because it wasn't "Good ol' made in the USA". The US kept getting the 3000GT through the Mitsu dealers. |

| Actually the Stealth died because of falling sales due to rising prices, atleast this is what I gathered from the articles I've read. For some reason Mitsubishi kept selling them despite this. I went to Minnesota last year and they had 6 '99 3000GT's still sitting at the Mitsu dealership, all with their original window stickers and not a mile on the odometer. |

That led, partly, to the death of the Z, Supra turbo and the RX-7 as well. |

I would say its mostly for the perceived allure of being able to get something never before available in Canada. Even though I think the 3000GT and Stealths are more or less identical, except the styling, for some they may think "yawn... a stealth", but "oooooo.... a 3000GT".
Its the same affect on kids as with the stupid JSPEC fad. There are certain cars or car parts thereof that are otherwise identical in the NA market but as soon as you say JSPEC... "OOOOOOOooo... sweet!!". |

| If anyone knows of any of these cars for sale I am in the market to buy one up to 15 grand, should get atleast a 95 TT manual, with under 150k |

any stealth thats going to be under $10,000 is most likely the ES model, which is base N/A 165hp V6. I personally think they are gurly and look ugly, but when it comes to the R/T or the TT the prices will be higher with the TT of course costing the most.
Youre more common to find stealths here with higher mileage than a 3000GT that has been imported.
stealths go by:
ES= base model= shit!
RT= 222hp NA but has all options and that crazy climate control, adjustable suspension and most importantly the look of the TT's
RT/TT= 320 AWD twin turbo youll never find one under $10000 most under $13,000 probably need something but regardless they are very rare
which makes having the 3000GT even rarer.
by owning the 3000GT you get the satisfaction that its rare especially if its the VR4.the 3000GT's little body differences look way better than the stealths.
you rarely see first gen 3000GT's for sale, its mostly the 2nd gen ones and they made those models tilll '99 where as stealths stopped in '95.
overall the 3000gt is worth more than the stealth, there is a cheap '98 3000GT for sale in autotrader but probably needs t-belt and other things but some people over price theirs.

| you wont find a 95 stealth TT 6-speed with under 150k for $15,000 for about 4 years if not more |

I dunno what you are looking at, but it sure sounds to me like you are comparing the price of a 3000 GT-VR4 to a Stealth ES or RT n/a.
I have been watching for a Stealth R/T TT for a couple of years now, and have not found one for under $10,000 yet.

There was one in e-town at car point, that went for $15,900, blue 93 TT standard Stealth. I was working so I coiuldn't go down to buy in time. So yes there is some at normal prices. Not like a guy in alberta who wants 33,000 for his:beer:
the car for 15900 had 109k |

| i personally like the 3000gt styling much more than the stealths. i would never buy a base model though. it would be like buying a mustang with a v6, it just doesn't make sense. good luck finding one. they are awesome cars! |

| So like the odds of making a profit is really good if you got a GTO imported for like 6k... and a big profit... doesent make sence why wouldent it happen more often? |

I don't get it. What reasoning are you using that you can make a big profit? |

same car its called the GTO in Japan and the 3000GT in North America... not to be confused with the pontiac GTO or the Ferrari GTO's so it was called the 3000GT...simple |

| sweet... so back to where i started... if u got a GTO imported it would be worth a hell of a lot more here then what u paid to get it imported?... cause so far 6k to get imported and about 10k for a gto that is saying that their cheaper then a 3000gt?... that doesent make sence... one end of this bargin doesent add up quite right... or maby im just noobish |

I'm aware. But I would have thought LHD cars sold for more than their RHD counterparts. Not everyone wants to drive a RHD car, I don't know anyone who would frown on a LHD car. Therefore, greater demand and more money. |

Ya me personally I would love a RHD car (CRX or 300ZX) but I really don't have one at this point...I see potential in all cars and unless it's in really shitty condition I wont frown on it...I might frown on some owners for how they treat their car though as a car is a car i.e.). I saw a guy in a Safeway parking lot and he kicked his neon telling his buddy that its a piece of shit... later that day I my cousin told me about his buddies neon thats running a T3/T4 that burned a few local mustang hotheads... i hate hotheads |
