| I was just curious. When a red light camera nabbs you, do they record the speed as well and dock you for that, if lets say, your going over the limit? Like I posted in the main section, I saw this GAGT blitz through a red light camera at 140+ km/hr in a 70 zone. Will he get additional ticket's or somethign else for speeding so much through the intersection? I would personally love to see this guy get nabbed for doing such a stupid act as what he did. But does anyone know about this at all? |

Alberta law has yet to be amended to allow for remote photographic evidence in regards to speeding to be admisible in court...so no (not yet).
There have been a few pilot projects (Sherwood Park for one) that have included warning notices for speeding in with red light tickets, but that's all they've been is warnings. By its function, the first thing the camera's control unit does, when a car has triggered the two detection loops, is compute speed, which is one of the many bits of data printed on the photo, along with time of day, date, etc... |

Stupid question, and its probably been addressed before, but its friday and I haven't had a coffee yet so.... would remote photographic evidence include photo radar? |

| No, there's a person there watching your speed and taking notes on what the camera's doing. Red Light cameras, though far more accurate in their speed assessment (as compared to radar, laser, etc...) don't have an operator, and, as yet, cannot issue speeding tickets, simply because you have nobody to cross-examine in court. |

hmmmm, so if you see the flash, go back and take a picture of the "operator" sitting there taking a nap and PR fine goes bye-bye. :D |
