Injector question - Click HERE for Original Thread

n0c7
I'm working on an 89 Chevrolet Celebrity which was having fuel related problems for the last year or so, but finally got to the point where they were unbareable. All of the symptoms seemed to lean towards bad injector(s). I inspected the EGR and PCV valves and they seemed to be fine. Apparently this vehicle only has a single injector, so I replaced it with a brand new one. After replacing the injector, the car no longer starts. With the air filter removed but the air cleaner housing remaining(the injector hides in here), I can see gas bubbling around the injector when attempting to start the car, but it settles back down. After numerous tries, gas eventually bubbled over and now the garage smells like a terrorist camp. Also, now the starter seems to be having trouble and at times its just clicking. Unfortunately, I do not know if the problem is the new injector or something else. The old injector snapped in half while removing it(to be expected in a car that age and the injector being stock). So my questoin is - with what I've described, is the new fuel injector improperly installed/faulty, or do I now have a problem that exists somewhere else such as the starter or the starter solenoid? The starter was replaced about 4 years ago but I'm not sure if the starter solenoid was replaced aswell. I have also attempted to boost the car, and have left the block heater plugged in for about 4 hours due to the cold weather and still no go.

Ahhh - good old TBI.

I'd check the fuel pressure - because the injector should spray the fuel out, just like hairspray out of an aerosol can. If you aren't getting the pressure you're supposed to to the injector, then look elsewhere in your fuel system (Filter, pump, etc....)

Actually I've seen it spray it like hair spray, so does that mean the injector is ok?
